Lawyer: Cops searching doctor's office for manslaughter evidence

The search warrant "services part of the ongoing investigation into the death of Michael Jackson," a Los Angeles Police spokesman said.

The DEA was assisting Los Angeles, California, police detectives in the search, spokeswoman Violet Szeleczky said.

Murray was the doctor with Jackson at his home when the pop star died June 25.

A spokesman for Murray's lawyer confirmed the search. He said they were "caught off guard by this," but they are cooperating with investigators.

"Anything they are asking for, we will give them," the spokesman said.

    Death ruled a homicide:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090824/ap_en_ot/us_michael_jackson_investigation

LOS ANGELES – A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that the Los Angeles County coroner has ruled Michael Jackson's death a homicide.

The finding makes it more likely criminal charges will be filed against the doctor who was with the pop star when he died.

The official says the coroner determined a fatal combination of drugs was given to Jackson hours before he died in his rented Los Angeles mansion on June 25. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the findings have not been publicly released.

Forensic tests found the powerful anesthetic propofol in Jackson's system along with two sedatives, the official says.

Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's personal physician, is the target of a manslaughter probe headed by Los Angeles police.

Does anyone else think this could be assisted suicide? I just don't see a potential motive for "homicide."

Does this charge explicitly mean it was not accidental?

I'm also wondering about what his motive could be if so. Seems to me it would be in his best interest that MJ stay alive. I was under the impression this was an easy, over paid gig for the doctor.

    I hear ya... it's confusing.

But why would Michael Jackson want to commit suicide when he was busy planning another tour?

Maybe he just didn't have it in him to do it and go through the grueling struggle.

doc will be booked on manslaughter

jackson probably knew he was pushing the limit

he's not around to testify to that

but the doc shouldn't have been so negligent

As if this needs more opinon on it.

Micheal Jackson was so emaciated and worn down physically by the time the doc to him, it could have been any random doctor in that situation who's "accountable" for his health. MJ really didnt have much health left to save. He probably could have died on stage if the doc didnt get to him first.

Administering all those drugs wasnt the correct thing to do though, if both people actually valued health and life. But thats part of the gig the doc signed up for. If a doctor prescribed aspirin to Elvis and it was somehow found it contributed a tiny trace amount to his death, he'd gotten lynched before he got sentenced.

    Jackson's life > Shakespear's Tragedy.

Rise so high and dip so low. What make it worse is that
his behavior might not be criminal. An extraordinary career
was killed by stupidity and possible extortion, and we may
not see anybody like him in the rest of our lifetime.

The irony is that he was about to get his act together
recently. He even went shopping with his kids unmasked a
    few months before his death.

I'm shocked to see this thread pop up. Is he doing well? A heart attack can lead to death man...

Jokes aside, I can't understand how the maximum sentence is 4 years. He basically killed Jacko and didn't do everything possible to make him survive, the evidence is astonishing. Only four years for that?
