CBS 3:30pm It's been 15 years but boxing finally made it back to CBS Saturday Afternoon. This use to be the norm, lots of big fights were on network TV. Then in the late 70s & 80s, networks made an effort to move away from boxing because of the darkness and violence of the sport. That lead way to HBO/Showtime buying fights, leaving most of the general public out of the loop. But now it's back! And they couldn't have picked a better fighter to showcase: Leo Santa Cruz. This kid is all action. You won't be disappointed. 5th fight already this year, unheard of in today's sport.
Deserves it's own thread because next week Boxing returns to network tv again but on NBC for Adamek-Cunningham II
^Yes, that leo santa cruz fight was good and today, adamek vs cunningham is a rematch of their entertaining first fight. More good news, CBS Boxing drew 1.3 rating, which was higher than any fight on HBO/Showtime this year. It also retained 90% of the Butler basketball game audience. This means more boxing on network tv! http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/8761607/return-network-tv-hit-boxing Leo Santa Cruz CBS feature - http://youtu.be/wAsSE94ZCT4 <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wAsSE94ZCT4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Adamek-Cunningham I Highlights - http://youtu.be/YiDKRBDJdXo <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CrAm7DR-AkM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Adamek-Cunningham II Full Fight - http://youtu.be/CrAm7DR-AkM <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YiDKRBDJdXo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I didn't pay 100% attention to the Adamek-Cunningham fight, but it certainly seemed like Cunningham won that fight. With the goof up of the decision announcement, it seemed even more of a cluster. Not good to do that on network TV.
