New Knicks GM Scott Perry was with the Orlando Magic until April, when the Magic replaced their entire front office, then he went to Sacramento. Apparently Perry was the one behind the Biyombo signing. I wonder if there is a deal to be made with Orlando as the third team. Ryno to Orlando, Biyombo to NY, and Melo to Houston. Biyombo also has 3 more years left on his contract, but he is a center. Perhaps Perry still sees something in him being a banger paired with Porzingis.

Orlando has certainly been a team that some have speculated on.

Ha - that's cool, but no - sadly it's much more boring than that. It's the "Headlands" from the Yellow Submarine movie. Everyone had something different happening in their heads - seemed appropriate for a board like this where two people can see the exact same thing and come away with drastically different interpretations....

If all else fails, just make the same post three times. Works every time.

    http://nypost.com/2017/07/17/whats-with-carmelo-and-4-big-questions-for-new-knicks-regime/

Mills and Perry still are eyeing youth, athleticism and defense. Doesn’t sound like Anthony, 33, fits into that vision, does it? Mills said in the release his “strategy is to build our team by developing young players, emphasizing athleticism, length and defense. We have several rising young stars in the organization and we expect to add more young talent to this core. Our message to our fans is clear: We will be disciplined in sticking to this strategy.’’

Rumors the Knicks are attempting to convince him to stay are exaggerations. With Houston trade talks at a roadblock, Mills and Perry plan to meet with Anthony, take his temperature on how desperately he wants out and investigate if he would expand his wish list beyond Houston/Cleveland. If not, the Knicks could seek a commitment from Anthony to become a mentor to the youngsters for one season since they are opposed to waiving him.

so this is what i've been worried about. The knicks playing chicken. They don't have to trade Anthony. Everyone knows he'll opt out next year. They just have to put up with him for one year. And if they don't get a good return for him, they can threaten to just keep him. If they are willing to make good on that threat, there's nothing much the rockets can do.

Also, something i haven't heard brought up ...the rockets need to do a trade for this guy. If we want him for more than a year, aren't there cap/salary advantages for having his bird-rights through trade rather than signing him as a FA?

Either way, what New York is doing right now is smart. They can extract extra compensation by playing hardball if they are willing to just keep him.

What you are saying is true. They could keep him for another year and let him walk, not getting anything in return.

    Maybe he plays good.

Maybe he is not a distraction in the locker room.

Maybe it doesn't hurt their image with other top players and agents.

    Or

Trade him. Let the new GM start with a clean slate. Let Porzingis/Hardawy be the alphas and build around him. Even if they just get draft picks, isn't that better than a bunch of maybes and nothing?

Melo will stay firm and say trade me to Houston as rumored. This ends this week.

The Knicks are the ones that started this. It's a PR nightmare and Melo has handled it well. This is where Rose says GTFOH and trade Melo to Houston.

Would be good to know about the banana boat thing cause the Rockets should be fine even if they don't get his bird rights if the banana boat thing is real, cause that would mean all of them would've to take a paycut anyway to make room for Lebron so, having bird rights wouldn't mean **** since we would've to go under tha cap anyway. On the other hand if Lebron in Houston is just a dream and Rockets front office is all in with a big three of Harden, Paul and Melo yeah, they would've to trade for him.

Also, the Knicks can still get something in trading him now. Yeah, they can keep him and let him go to have some cap space next summer, but nobody relevant is going to New York anyway, the won't even a enough room for a max i think...if they can get a decent player and a pick or some small assets they should do it imo.

If they hold onto Melo now, they're going to have to drastically over pay for a long ass time. Melo is going to stir **** and with the pres and vp of the players association being on the banana boat...well yeah

Knicks always making **** more complicated. They are the ones that have driven this man to want to leave, they are the ones that promised him he'd be traded to Houston, now they're saying we're not trading you after all. I hope every superstar player is watching this and never goes to play for this franchise. I hope Melo does everything in his power to trash the Knicks organization

You would have to think his agents are powerful enough to force the Knicks to trade Carmelo or be blackballed bye Leon Rose & company clients for the foreseeable future? It is dirty but that is how agents play it. Dwight's agent was king at this. That is how he was traded to the Lakers for a mediocre package. Some agents/players hold all the cards and you have to think that is how this will be played.

He didn't start anything. The Knicks have a hard enough time attracting star players as it is. It's a terrible look for them; he will be in Houston by the end of the week.

Today will be a good news day.

Lots of smoke on the horizon.

NY media will be asking Perry multiple Melo questions. Will be nice to get a real answer on what the Knicks are planning to do.

I don't think keeping him is an option. He's only going to make them better this year while not competing for a playoff spot and hurting their draft pick.
