and then knicks say your logic doesn't make sense. we're ready and more then willing to send out toxic anderson for melo, they aren't. so we repackage toxic anderson into toxic leonard, and they don't want that either. maybe nobody does, and that's why there's no deal to date.

I'm just saying his contract does not have to be a bad contract. It is just bad for the Knicks. Portland seemed fine with it. I will let it pass.

false. that contract is not going to be taken back by any other team in this league without them receiving extra compensation from us (ie. picks or desirable players) or them sending back their own toxic contracts. this isn't a knicks-specific issue. ryno's contract is toxic leaguewise

Who does he open the list for...the warriors? They ain't giving anyone up.

The Spurs? What you want the corpse of LMA? Pau?

The Knicks aren't getting a superstar back. They fubarred the last 5 years and this is their penance.

    Everyone knows it but them.

Melo and CP3 are close friends and share same agent. And there is believed an on-table deal NY was serious considering, although not so satisfied them.

There is no way for him to expand the wishing list. He may not able to play with his best friends or at least cost Rockets extra assests to get him by doing that.

Didn't Morey have Knight locked up for those idiots and they wanted Bledsoe? Now they're media leaking that they want him smh. Smells imminent tho

I kind of wonder if that's not a coincidence. I could absolutely see things playing out like this:

Mills: "So we've got this deal locked up to get rid of Melo. We end up getting Harkless and Brandon Knight. You good to go?"

Perry: "Not yet. Let's talk to Melo to see if we can convince him to stay."

Mills: "Cool. I'll ask him." .... (five minutes later)... "Yeah, so he told us to go **** ourselves. Do we make the trade now?"

Perry: "Not yet. Let's leak to the media that we're interested in Brandon Knight first, so it looks like we used our leverage to get more in the trade, and it looks like I did a good job with my first transaction."

Mills: "Sounds like a plan. Let's make sure we all spew a bunch of nonsense about how this is a 'culture change' for the franchise to soften the blow."

But what are teams willing to offer to Ryno? They don't want to offer anything good that's why they couldn't get any deal to work out.
Let's say Ryno's contract is worth $20, and Melo's contract is worth $100. You offer Ryno's contract in exchange for Melo's contract, of course Knicks would say no. You are saying somnone is willing to take Ryno, but if they are offering $22, It's still far from What Knicks want.
My point is, you don't magically turn trash into gold just by involving more teams. Unless the second team wants to take your $20 and turn around give up $100. Which would be idiotic.

Except the $100 is a Giftcard to the Hallmark store that expires next year. Sure it's worth 100$ but you cant exactly get it to work for you everywhere. The Knicks can trade him for something now or he performs like ****, they tank and he goes FA and that's that.

Did you read the previous comments? chenjy9 was saying he would offer Anderson 20M THIS SUMMER, which as you pointed out, should be the right time to dump such contract.
I totally agree with you that last year's performance put us in this position to be a FA destination. I made a thread at the beginning of the season saying we didn't got meeting with KD because we had a terrible season the year before. If we peaked right before KD was looking for a new team, we had a shot at KD.

No we didn't, how could it have been possible for us to out perform golden state, he literally chose the best team in the league who just had the best season in history to join, he was not coming here

If Rockets went to WCF and did better than 2015, why not? Let's say we lost to GSW in 6 games, it's not inconceivable that him+Rockets would be the best in the west. Joining the second best would also be much easier on his reputation.

    This.

People are saying, "Hey look! Ryan's contract is not that bad! It can be traded. Someone is willing to take him on."

But then they will gladly omit the part where they are only doing it if someone takes one of their own trash contract.

Transferring the problem of moving Ryan's crap contract to Leonard's crap contract does not make Ryan's contract any better.

There is a reason we are looking at a 4 team trade and it all starts with Ryan's garbage contract. If it wasn't we wouldn't be trying to get a 4 team trade to work.

Ryan's Anderson's contract is toxic, which is why even a team with as horrendous a track as the Knicks, is staying away from it. You can't even consider him as an asset at that price point and term length. That about says it all.

Can't agree more. If Morey really wants Melo, he has to stop thinking about Ryno. No matter how many teams are involved you just can't expect to flip your worst contract for Melo. You have to offer something of value to the Knicks or the third team.

The Knicks have been fubarred for the last 20 years now. Worst run franchise in all of sports during that time, imo.
