Anybody still trying to defend Mallett is hopelessly blind.

Hoyer will get you an 80ish QBrating. That's his career. Similar to fitz.

That's average or below average or whatever.

But its way better than 65 QBrating Mallet

I really don't get starting Mallet all these games.

Hoyer has put up a 97 QBrating this year. He's very much like Fitz, just a serviceable guy.

    Mallet is an abomination.

Anyone who liked him needs to rethink how they analyze sports.

as the saying goes, You can't fix dumb. And that especially applies to NFL QBs.

I don't follow football much anymore, but do watch with friends now and again.

I saw one play by Mallet, earlier. A 3rd and 3. He ran a QB sneak, and of course didn't make it close to 3yds, which is nearly impossible for a QB sneak in the NFL. Mallet claimed after that that was the play he heard from the sidelines.

BOB greeted him at the sidelines with "WTF was that."

My sarcastic translation of the rest
    Mallet--"That's the play I heard."
BOB -- "We never run a QB sneak with 3 yrds to go, you idiot. Why didn't you change the play if the comm wasn't clear."
Mallet--"Change the play? hmmm...Never thought of that."

So, am I right. Is Mallet just dumb?

Pretty much. Now people are hopping on the Hoyer wagon after that stupid INT he ended the game with. Just tossing it up there for the defense...still had a play left and time but he put the game to rest.

Puts my mind at ease though, I know no matter which one of these guys we play we are going to suck and get a top 5 pick.

They need to start Mallett the rest of the year. He gives us the best odds of securing the #1 pick.

His two main accounts have a post total over 25,000 in just a few years. If he had just one account, people would know how often he actually posted; hence, the multiple usernames.

    Question about that pass blocking…

I thought Mallett's quick release was the reason he wasn't getting pressure.

Fact is, the pass blocking has been good all year, like most of us have been saying all along. If Mallett wanted to release the ball earlier than needed, that's on him, and another reason why many of us saw him as a failure from the get go.

He has no patience. He just immediately throws the ball no matter what the defense is doing, hence the 5.0 yards per attempt

I actually thought it was, initially.

Now, I realize our line is not so bad. Its not great at run blocking, but the pass protection has been great.

When things break down, Hoyer will get into trouble, as seen in our last play last night. Important to give him room to work.

Hoyer doesn't protect the ball. He'll be leading a good drive then just throw a mind boggling interception.

    Similar to Fitz.

But Mallet can't even get the drive started. He's completely useless except as a body.

Right, Hoyer needs that pocket to do something positive with the ball. He's horrible if the defense gets consistent pressure.

If we could fix that run blocking, this offense would be able to move the ball so much more efficiently. Not sure how we are so bad in this department.

The way things are going, now that Foster is back and now that we have a quarterback that can move the ball, the defense is going to become the scapegoat. We'll put some points on the board, but there will be no way to stop the opposing team from putting more up than us.

I don't believe this to be true. The offense is still a much greater concern than the defense right now.

I too hate to encourage BTG, but since he started posting here, he has been wrong (and wrong with such conviction) than the man Pancakes himself.

Did you seriously create a thread about Hoyer being put in over mallet and are gloating about it?

It's like smelling two piles of poop and preferring one smell over the other. At the end of the day they are still piles of **** man.

    No one wins here.

Mallet isn't throwing it too quickly. He's throwing it into the f***ing dirt.
