Test drove both today, didn't think there would be a huge difference, but there was. Is it worth the ~30K difference though?
Hah, I did realize how it would look, but I really am looking for honest opinions. Corvette/Mustang ftw. Why M5 over M6?
I prefer the M5 as well. I just think its more of a classic that never goes out of style. I have a lowly 528i which I love, and also an X5 with the 4.8L V8, which I love even more (except for the gas mileage). You can't go wrong either way with your choices.
Admitting to a mid life crisis every day on the road? Sounds awesome. They were beautiful cars when I was 20, but I've had a Vette and felt stupid every time I drove it. There's just something about it that either screams "Small dick, douche" or "Do you like my wrinkled skin and sun spots?" So glad someone totaled mine after 3 months of ownership. Also, when I think my XJL has issues I just remember owning that Vette. What garbage. SO many issues in such a short period of time.
The M5 will be about $20k cheaper with the same performance, so it really depends on if you want a coup. I had an M5 for over 5 years and I loved it. For a 'family car' it does almost everything you want in a sports sedan. I sold it recently to get a 911. If you want a coup maybe you should look down that path instead for about the same price.
When you were 20 you cared what people thought. You're older now so why give a ****? Just get what you like.
That's because the older models of the Vette were really bad cars outside of the muscle that, yes, it spoke for the people who bought them. The new Stingray's much better. It's a lot like the new Viper in terms of being a leap from the old generation in terms of being a car you could live with. That said, it's still less than the Viper and any European sports car.
if you want a long-body couple and have the money (apparently you do), go test drive a CL65. don't knock it before you try it.
If you must the M6. Ditto the M5 though. Probably a bigger market for it later on down the road when you want to sell, unless you're leasing.
e92, love it, and always been a fan of all the 3 series pretty much. great cars m5 just a better deal and in sedan form IMO, but if you want the coupe, then I understand. I have a guy with m5 in my condo building and I stare at it every time I'm in the garage
