All the great seafood/cajun spot in Houston, and people still go to Red Lobster? Damn, I figured that's where you go for seafood in Des Moines, Iowa or something.
Rome's first television show The Last Word, Rome interviewed former NBA player Chucky Brown, also a former CBA player, on the differences between the NBA and CBA. Brown would often say that players got very little meal money in the CBA and would often eat at fast food restaurants, while in the NBA players could afford to "go to Red Lobster, get you a nice meal." Then, Isiah Thomas came on the show, and following Rome's greeting, Isiah said, "My pleasure. I just got back from Red Lobster." http://jimrome.wikia.com/wiki/Alvin's_Mix But I remember when Red Lobster was considered "nice" in the late 70's etc. It was on par with Steak and Ale. My dad wouldn't pay that much for a family dinner. Olive Garden has also fallen.
Black people is fine, but "Blacks" -- there's just something about it that rubs me the wrong way. If someone says "Whites" I feel like that is racist as well. The implication is that you're just a color, and you're not actually a person. It doesn't have to be "African American" or whatever other P.C. garbage there is. There is however a line to be drawn.
anyone here actually worked at red lobster? I wonder how fresh their lobsters are? I'm sure they get their shrimp from some nasty Asian farms...
I think Red Lobster's hay day as some kind of status icon is in the past--like as in the 80's & 90's back when a $17 meal was kinda nice. Food now is bottom of the barrell & picked-over seafood leftovers. Maybe that look OP is getting is that the brand is dated and just sucks. Still has some nostalgic feelings for me but if I want seafood, RL isn't where i'm headed.
It doesn't bother me one bit but I did notice I was one of the only people at Grand Lux the other day who wasn't African American. Who doesn't like good food!
Blacks are always at red lobster but so are whites. You don't see many yellows or brownies there though.
Who do think manages/owns the establishment? (Yellows) And cooks and cleans? (Brownies) They're there just working in the background.
