Especially if it is for Dirk Koetter. If it is for Sean Payton or Jim Harbaugh, I can understand by an offensive coordinator without a special track record.

Dolphins have hired Bears OC Adam Gase as Head Coach. Former Texans, current Bengals DB coach Vance Joseph is expected to be named DC. Spoiler <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Bears?src=hash">#Bears</a> will hire 6th offensive coordinator in 8 seasons for QB Jay Cutler. <a href="https://t.co/Wrt6h5eWrh">https://t.co/Wrt6h5eWrh</a></p>— Brad Biggs (@BradBiggs) <a href="https://twitter.com/BradBiggs/status/685863738306473984">January 9, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Bears fans realized mid-season Gase was a goner. Too bad. Cutler will probably regress next year unless Fox makes another dead on hire at OC. I don't know if Gase is ready to be an NFL head coach.
Not his fault his players couldn't control themselves. He tried everything. The question is, who's going to hire Lovie Smith?
Marvin Lewis is the only coach worth 10 cents the Bengals have had since Wicky Wacky. If they fire him, the franchise would probably go back into the toilet where they belong. But he has to get a grip on some of his players or get rid of them. There is a serious amount of selfishness and a lack of accountability & discipline on that team.
Not to mention he was without his starting QB. It has to suck to be 0-7 in the playoffs, but the Bengals haven't had 5 straight winning seasons until now.

Browns gonna Brown. Giving Hue Jackson any say over personnel is a horrible decision. The guy is too emotional to make good business decisions. A brilliant offensive mind though. Give him some weapons and he will make Cleveland relevant on one side of the ball.
Haven't read anywhere that he got GM duties as well. But this is actually a pretty good hire for the Browns overall.
ESPN reporting that the Jackson hire was contingent on Manziel being pushed out of Cleveland. This is the time to buy low on Manziel, right?
Regardless of overall personnel, any coach should have control over their QB. You can't hire a coach and then force him to build his offense around a guy he doesn't believe in. It's a recipe for disaster.
