If you told any basketball person in Europe that Biyombo or Rubio is as good as Spanoulis.....you would be an absolute laughing stock.

That's not what you said buddy... Don't try to back out now.

You said "will never be 1/5 as good as V-Span".

Now your just going to have to live up to it kiddo.

No. I said that if you told anyone that has seen all three play, that Biyombo or Rubio is as good as Spanoulis, you would be a laughing stock.

I mean if you think Biyombo or Rubio is better than Spanoulis, then your basketball knowledge is weak to epic proportions.

You are the one that has to live up to it. You are the one that has such limited basketball knowledge.............you have just replaced DD as the person with the least basketball knowledge in this forum.

News flash, players like Biyombo are a dime a dozen in Europe. Rubio was one of the worst players we ever had in recent memory in Euroleague. I don't have to own up to anything. It is a fact that neither of them will ever be as good as Spanoulis is.

Rubio was by far and away the worst player in his team in Spain. Understand? The NBA is taking guys that are the worst players on their team in Euroleague.

Read my words........they will NEVER be as good as Spanoulis, nor dozens of other current Euroleague players. This discussion ends.

You think your the only European watching European basketball on this forum?
Well newsflash for you, i've been living in Europe for the past 13 years, and i've probably watched more basketball in my life that you will ever watch.

But this isn't the discussion, the discussion is that you said that neither Rubio or Biyombo would ever be a 1/5th of what Spanoulis is. You said it black on white just check your post a couple posts up.

I personally disagree with that statement, and I believe not only will Rubio and Biyombo become better players than Spanoulis, but they will also have a better impact in the NBA and have a better NBA-career than V-Span.

I guess we will see in time ;)

You claim Biyombo and Rubio are better than Spanoulis and claim to watch European basketball. It means that you have the least basketball knowledge of anyone in this forum. Sorry mate, but that's the reality of it.

You said that I said things and assumed things that I did not at all say or assume.

That was my initial point -- I agree with this.

Where do I assume this? This is what I do -- I point out the numbers he put up in the ACB, point out that the ACB is better than the NCAA, and then point out that a college player doing in the NCAA what Biyombo did in the ACB (like Stromile Swift) would probably be a top 3 pick (like Stromile Swift). Then point out that Bioyombo, who did this in the ACB, should thus be more impressive, not less.

This is it. I am not saying he is the best player on his team, or in the ACB -- I am saying that, based on what he was able to do in Europe, and based on the fact that he is 18, the kid looks to project really well in the NBA.

This is what is wrong with your argument as opposed to mine -- I am looking at what he actually did and factual comparisons between his competition and that of past and present draftees; then from here I give my opinion on the Bismack. You on the other hand do not have reasons, analysis and then an opinion -- you have opinion (which you narrow myopically see as fact), analysis of your opinions and then judgement of other people's opinions for not matching up with your own.

    For example:
One of your supporting reasons -- it is just your opinion though, you have no proof of this.

Again, your opinion. I'm not saying he was the best player in Europe, I am saying that it is above average for an 18 year old to lead a league of grown ass men in any major category -- even blocked shots. That is impressive.

See, what an argument or discussion should do is
    1. Look at the facts and
    2. analyze if views match up with the facts.

    What you always do is
    1. state your opinion as fact
2 see if views match up with your opinions.

The thought never crosses your mind that you might want to think about whether or not your opinions are based on fact -- which is why you are a tool.

As Nietzsche says, It is not about having the strength of one's convictions, it is about having the strength the challenge one's own convictions.

He is one of those guys that will get you those highlight reel blocks but his bball IQ and zero offensive skills will make him a bust. At best, he'll be a backup role player. I wouldn't waste a first round lotto pick on him. If its a late 1st round pick or 2nd round pick, then sure he's worth the gamble but not worth a lottery pick

Apparently Van Gundy didn't like V-Span a great deal... I bet he wouldve been good if he honestly got some real pt.. having said that.. I think Biyombo and Rubio will EASILY have better NBA careers than V-Span.. This argument will not end with that tho... It's like asking who's better.. Batman or Spiderman...They don't play eachother and theyre not in the same league.. V-Span's NBA career honestly doesn't count..

I saw VSpan play and he was a fouling / turnover machine. He did not have the toughness to play against NBA point guards who just abused him. I think he had the phisical talent to overcome that and become a decent NBA point guard if he would have stuck it out but he was also a mental midget and had to run back to a softer league that fit his cupcake personality much better.

(awaiting the OHMSS response that VSpan was the European TMac and better than any point guard to ever wear an NBA uniform, the NBA was not good enough for VSpan and that no American knows anything about basketball)

VSpan showed potential to become an above average defender as well as a scorer. JVG's problem with him was simple. Coach asked him to adapt his game to fit the team. Spanoulis refused. His ego was simply larger than his desire to play in the NBA.

VSpan never did become even an average defender in the NBA. He was a turnover / foul machine. JVG's biggest problem was that he had a hard time learning his assignments and protecting the ball... plus his attitude.

Good find. You have to admit, it's hard not to like the guy and imagine he'll have success. It doesn't sound like he is just trying to say the right and obvious things, but who knows.
