"lost his balance from the shot, happens all the time"...WTF?!?! Have you ever play basketball? I have NEVER once in 25 years lost my balance from a shot and fell down.
This is the type of stuff the NBA should get tough on, but it will end up being a mere slap on the wrist if that.
The problem is that you have to address it retroactively, and like Blake Griffin pointed out, a big play in game 7 is well worth a fine. The only way to stop flopping is for refs to stop falling for them. Guys will always try to be tactful and try to try or exagerrate contact.
A questionable foul like that should be reviewable. Same with block/charge calls. There are simple solutions to things like this, but the NBA isn't able to implement it for who knows what reason.
Then just put a rule in place that if its in the last 5 minutes of the game and the score is within 10 points, its reviewable. The end of close games are slowed down anyways, because teams will call more timeouts. Fans won't mind if the refs take a bit of time to make sure the calls are made correctly.
yup. no contact whatsoever on the play. he already decided he was going to fall down as soon as he landed. Mo didn't even touch him.
They can also allow the opposing coach to request a review 3 times a game or something like that. I know basketball is not football. But I don't see why these things can't be implemented like the NFL, with some modifications.
Lol what? These players are professionals. They do not lose their balance from shooting a spot-up jumper shot. Chauncey Billups is one of the leaders in 3-pointers made in NBA history. He is not going to just lose his balance randomly.
Poor Mo, that's two games in a row in which a call went against him--first was where Lin kicked the ball and it wasn't called.
Ok watching it again I saw his exaggerated kick which made it look like he lost his balance. But I didn't see any contact so I still fault the ref.
