I just hope whoever we want is also the best hire going forward for the franchise. I can see a situation where McNair/Smith get the guy they want, but it ends up being a bad hire.

I imagine other teams will go after O'Brien as well.

But with the #1 pick and a relatively weak division, we have an attractive opening.

As others have said, stability is important from a job security standpoint. McNair has that reputation. Detroit on the other hand has a reputation as an incompetent front office that ends many coaching careers.

I think Wade is a goner if O'Brien is hired. Not sure they fit each other. No idea who O'Brien would hire if he came to Houston.

Only way I think Wade could stay is for one year to ease the transition.

I don't see any way Wade's staying no matter who is hired. New coach needs to have full reign to bring in his own people that he chooses.

Yea and after wade interviews and doesn't get the job, we can assume he won't want to be back. I would think Obrien would bring some of his old buddies when he was OC in New England not sure who they were or where they are now. Maybe still in New England

Maybe Lovie as head coach and O'Brien as offensive coordinator?

So we still won't consider guys without head coaching experience, ie a very talented applicant pool?

O'Brien's not going from head coach at Penn State to NFL OC. That's a downward move both in prestige and pay.

I think it goes more to the beat of Green EGGS and HAM...

I do not like O brien as the man

I do not like him Sam I am

I do not like him with our quarterback

He's not much better than Kubiak

I do not like him against the Colts

    Or even those Charger Bolts

I do not care he was one of those Patriots

I would much rather have Bill Belicheck

I do not like him wearing headsets

I would rather have Rex from the Jets

I do not like O brien the man

I do not like him Sam I am

Romeo Crenel is likely available. Much like Wade, shouldn't be a head coach anywhere, but has always had success with his defenses as a coordinator.

Hell, he helped pick a lot of the pro bowlers on Kansas City's defense.

    Very true

One great thing about Rex is he consistently beat Belicheck,

    Please be a woman.

    Still loving that Trent-deal everyday.

Perhaps the HC will have some influence, Kubiak did didn't he?

Don't Bridgewater's skinny legs and Johnny will likely get broken in half with all the scrambles.

Would be the ultimate kick to the groin.

What has he ever done wrong, besides having the courage to lead a program out of high-profiled scandal involving the sexual abuse of children, while also taking care of his own sick son.

While you are rooting for fat Rex to be our next coach. bringing that nasty foot fetish, cuckold clown to this organization.

    smh

Hey it's only intended for humor. Don't take it seriously. I was trying to get it to rhyme. Making sense was secondary. :)

Honestly I do not know enough about Obrien. I am open to the possibility. I Like Rex Ryan but Obrien is an offensive guy and I'd prefer to have an offensive minded head coach.

The Texans would do well to emulate the draft class that Grigson was able to land in 2012: Luck, Fleener, Dwayne Allen, and T.Y. Hilton in the first three rounds (along with Ballard and Brazill to give Luck some more weapons).

The Texans really need to have another 2006 draft where they were able to draft 5 impact starters.

He's 3-7 against the Pats. 1-5 the last 3 years. Better than a lot I guess but hardly consistent. The Jets have never won that division.

I don't get the Rex Ryan love. He made a little noise his first 2 years, but since then? Pfft. Talk about mediocre. 3 non-winning seasons in a row? Might even end up with 2 consecutive losing seasons which is something Kubiak never even had. If Rex had the same results with the Texans, we'd all be screaming for his head too so I don't know how you look at the Jets (not to mention the circus that has accompanied them) and say "I want some of that".

If Rex can't find a head coaching job, I would absolutely love to bring him in as a defensive coordinator. He's a poor head coach, but he's a terrific defensive play-caller.
