Do you not realize that we are where we are right now BECAUSE of injuries to Yao and TMac? (Dawson acquisitions). Turning Landry and TMac into Martin, Spanoulis into Scola — those Morey moves were not bad, IMO.

I really liked CD and Rudy and thought they made some good moves, but they also made some boneheaded ones. This organization lost a lot of flexibility with horrible contracts like Cato and Matt Maloney (thought we'd never get that one off the books) to mention only two. These moves were made out of premature inadequate judgment (Cato preseason) and loyalty to players who they felt deserved to be rewarded. This hurt the Rockets for years. Ever wonder why we were so crappy during the Franchise/Cat years?

Morey is not perfect, but he is smart. The NBA is a business; and for those who are still hanging on to this — PLEASE stop whining about how Morey treated TMAC. Get your facts straight and grow up.

This is very good news! If Bill Ingram said it then we know there is not a shrewd of truth to it. The words 'yellow journalism' were fashioned with Bill Ingram in mind.

    Lets keep it real..

Only reason Morey gets flack is because dumb ****s (I speak french) think that:

"OMG if Morey is such a genius why can't he get us a superstar!??!!!?" Point blank. Period.

If you read it carefully it's not "players don't want to play for Rockets," it's "agents don't want their players to play for the Rockets."

Morey is going to make agents work for every dollar. Agents probably miss Isaiah who was handing out blank checks to anybody in line.

The Rockets were basicly the same level of winning that they are now with Francis and Yao, they were just more marketable. We lucked into Yao by winning the lottery and getting the first pick. He got Tmac during a period before Yao's injuries started mounting up, which was a good trade even though signs of what was to eventually come showed up even then in the way he exited Orlando. CD also signed really bad contracts to players like Moochie, Mo Taylor, Glen Rice, Kato, Matt Maloney, and so on. We had one of the worst supporting casts in the league for most of the time Yao and Tmac were actually healthy together.

And the good ole days of CD running the draft:

    1996 2nd rnd 30th Othella Harrington
    1996 2nd rnd 42nd Randy Livingston
    1996 2nd rnd 50th Terrell Bell
    1997 1st rnd 24th Rodrick Rhodes
    1997 2nd rnd 29th Serge Zwikker
    1998 1st rnd 14th Michael Dickerson
    1998 1st rnd 16 Bryce Drew
    1998 1nd rnd 18th Mirsad Türkcan
    1998 2nd rnd 41 Cuttino Mobley
    1999 1st rnd 22nd Kenny Thomas
    1999 2nd rnd 44 Tyrone Washington
    1999 2nd rnd 50th Venson Hamilton
2000 1st rnd 15th Joel Przybilla to Milwaukee for Jason Collier & a future 1st
2000 2nd rnd 38 Eduardo Najera (traded to Dallas)
2001 1st rnd 13 Richard Jefferson traded to New Jersey for Eddie Griffin
2001 1st rnd 18 Jason Collins traded to New Jersey for Eddie Griffin
2001 1st 23rd Brandon Armstrong traded to New Jersey for Eddie Griffin
    2002 1st rnd 1st Yao Ming
    2002 1st rnd 15th Boštjan Nachbar
    2002 2nd rnd 37th Tito Maddox
    2003 2 rnd 44th Malick Badiane
    2004 2nd rnd 55th Luis Flores
    2005 1st rnd 24th Luther Head
2006 1st rnd 8th Rudy Gay (traded to Memphis for Shane Battier)

Gotta love 1998 and the Eddie Griffin deals in particular there.

As for the Hoopsworld report, maybe the agents worry about having to deal with restricted free agency with their mid and lower level salary players, but I have a hard time believing it would matter to the franchise level guys which is what we are trying to get because they make max level money regardless of where they go.

No offense...and i mean this in the NICEST WAY POSSIBLE, but please do some research before you post again... for others may become that much dumber for reading your post.

CD did not become GM until 1996 (as another poster mentioned)
    CD did not draft Hakeem
CD did not trade for Drexler
CD did not assemble the championship squads

Here is what CD did do...
Trade young Horry/Cassell/Elie/Smith for Barkley (FAIL)
Sign over-rated, "i'm nothing without Jordan" Pippen (ULTIMATE FAIL)
Trade Pippen for scrubs Cato/Stacy Augmen/Walt Williams/Carlos Rogers (FAIL)
Sign Cato to a big deal (ULTIMATE FAIL)
Sign Moochie Norris to big deal (FAIL)
    Sign Stro Swift (FAIL)
Trade Richard Jefferson for Eddie Griffin on draft day (ULTIMATE FAIL)
With 3 1st round draft picks in the 98 draft, drafted Michael Dickerson, Bryce Drew, and Mirsad Turkcan (ULTIMATE FAIL!)

The only things that he did right were probably trade for Steve Francis, trade for McGrady, draft Yao, and retire.
