Beverley is a fine example of how much hate the media has for the Rockets as a franchise

i was thinking the same thing last night. He was always regarded as gritty here but a dirty player. Now though, hes the ultimate everything.

For those who think he was regarded the same, he was not. He was not LOVED like he is now. Resected, sure, but not loved.

definitely dont think this is true at all. but people just want to spin it how they what they want to.

bev was praised as a defensive pest when he was here. he made his mark in the league while he was here period. he became an all defensive guard when he was here and was well praised because of it. to think he didn't get any respect or love when he was here is just plain lack of awareness.

Playing this victim role all the time just gets tiresome, especially when playing stretch armstrong levels

Harden has the biggest face top left?

    And LeBron is offended.

Exactly. That’s the biggest things he was thought as a dirty player in Houston. Ppl viewed him in Houston like they view Bruce Bowen. He was compared to Bowen’s when in Houston whereas now he’s being compared to Gary Payton

You can say what you want, you have become, in my opinion, to opinionated, lately.

Im definitely not playing the victim role but you are not thinking right, if you dont think the Rockets have been the villainous team ever since Harden came into stardom, especially with his early on foul seeking by the refs. Fans and Media dont like us and that is a just a fact, from their blatant reactions and takes.

They're implying that he's Thanos, in the playoffs. Hence, the villain.

And Lebron should be offended by how terrible of a job he did putting that Lakers team together for Magic. Btw, if they were in the playoffs I'm sure Lebron would be front and center as Cap rather than Steph. With KD possibly replacing Harden as Thanos... but.... probably not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They made Harden the guy who whooped everyone's ass?

    Nice!

And here I thought that James Harden's greatest power was only making "experts" cry on the internet. Nope! He's freaking Thanos, man!

LOL. Good try. That was written by Calvin Watkins, you know, the guy that covered the team and even then it took him awhile to warm up to this team. He was known for constantly bagging on The Rockets even as a team reporter. Try again.

Dude, are you serious? If thats not the strawiest of straw man. You point out in an epic game of a historical comeback and Lou Williams scoring 36, you want a headline for Pat? LOL. I mean, wheres Montrezls headline, he must not be loved by the media either. Yet he was just on an ESPN interview about being energy off the bench. Oh wait, so was Pat with SVP. You should stop posting for a while.....

"Thanks for proving the point? Youll believe what you want to believe?"

You should heed your own hot takes.

I see this and think about how the Thunder should be defending their 3rd or 4th title at this point. If Sam Presti had done his job, the Warriors would be the really great team that year after year just can't seem to get out of the WCF.

I blame Presti for the Warriors' arrogance.

I wouldn't project public perception of Beverly onto the Houston Rockets franchise. If you ask any OKC fan what they think, they'll still think he's dirty and resorts to antics or non-basketball plays. But you know what... OKC fans only became basketball fans when they realized Harden, future superstar, had scorned them for a greater city in Houston. As Houston fans, we all knew and believe that Beverly's fiesty-ness was all about basketball as much as Russ' lion roars at the end of a dunk. It's theater but also mental gameplay. Around the league, he gained everyone's respect as someone who'll do anything to play that mental game, oftentimes at his own and our team's expense - but he still gained that respect nonetheless. The perception of him as dirty I've only seen coming from OKC fans.

Where it gets blurred is when those same OKC fans called our team dirty because we had Bev and Harden for his ref-baiting. And because Harden is our franchise, then it feels like those attacks were on the team as a whole. Hence, people called our style ugly and fabricated.
