I too am confused. The movie was predictable, but it wasn't a bad ending either. I thought the premise was pretty cool actually.
It sort of goes in the same line as Contact in my book. You have all this build up then find out the story is about two would- be comic book characters. It was sad to me. I made the girl pay me my $6.50 back.
Oh yeah! I totally forgot about that one. I agree, it was pretty horrible. Actually, that whole movie sucked; it just dragged on and on and on and on and on....
Seriously? I view movies as a risk. You shouldn't be able to get your money back just because you didn't like a movie. Same goes for food at a restaurant. I can understand if it's not cooked right, but if you simply don't like the food, I think you should still pay for it.
I am talking about the girl I went to the movies with, not the movie theatre itself. I remember wanting to go see another movie, Gladiator I think, but she insisted on seeing Unbreakable. I figured I wouldn't like it but I disliked it so much that I wanted her to pay me back.
I once went to the theatre booth and told them there were several hairs on my ticket stub. I wanted my movie comped, period. They laughed and didn't refund my money. I once went to a restaurant. The meal was amazing. The dessert sucked. I demanded a full refund. They didn't laugh. They just kicked me out. I really need to remember how to get stuff for free.
I know a lot of people hated this movie, but I watched under the impression everything was real and it scared the crap out of me. That house appearing out of nowhere at the end... spooky as hell. Kudos those guys for making an effective albeit short lived ploy. I wish I had seen it in the theater under the same delusion. However watching it now and knowing it's fake.. yeah it sucks. I'll agree with Usual Suspects, Shawshank Redemption, Sixth Sense, and Fight Club. Also LA Confidential and Swordfish. Worst endings: Contact I, Robot (what the hell? Was the robot going to lead the rest to conquer the planet or not?)
They changed the end of "Closer"???? I loved this play. Hollywood sucks. ...yet I will still rent this movie bc of Natalie Portman.
Usual suspects and sixth sense but u r correct AI was the biggest load of Crap I have EVER watched Rocket River
Best Twist Ending: The Empire Strikes Back Nothing will ever top Vader's revelation to Luke. Best Cliffhanger Ending: The Empire Strikes Back As if Vader's surprise weren't enough, we were left wondering if Han Solo would be rescued and if the Rebellion could recover from the ass whooping they'd just received. Best Final Scene: On Her Majesty's Secret Service We learn why James Bond has trouble committing. Best Final Shot: The Godfather Part II That USAToday article mentioned Being There which is a great choice, but I'm going with The Godfather Part II and that chilling zoom in on Michael Corleone sitting all alone after "winning". Best Overall Ending: The Godfather Part II Again, I can't think of a better choice. I actually prefer the first Godfather flick(and choose to ignore the existence of the third ). But has there ever been a better 45 minute segment of a film than the one at the end of The Godfather Part II?
Best Endings: Memento, Shawshank Redemption, Alrington Road, Fight Club, and of course, the Usual Suspects.
I actually liked the concept of Unbreakable but the execution was weak - you NEVER end a movie with text saying what happened (unless its a teen comedy where you say what happens to a character when they grow up). I agree about The Godfather Part II, but the USA Today article is a rare case where the writer gets a whole lot right. Other endings I think are great: The Hidden Fortress - It's all about the adventure Nashville - Simultaneously optimistic and cynical The Wicker Man - Sucker Worst Don't Look Now - all that suspense for so little Suspiria - same problem Ghost World - the director must have really hated Steve Buscemi's character to ruin him in such a stupid manner
