I would argue its Barbecue Inn. Family owned since 1946. Best fried chicken and best fried shrimp in Houston. Damn good everything. http://www.thebarbecueinn.com/index.html
Not sure if these trendy over-priced places that have figured out how to get people excited about kale and cauliflower deserve so much love.
Maybe I went on a bad night but I was not impressed at Caracol at all. Very bland, horrible wait staff, half ass bar...**** that. I really love Coltivare though. I've had dinner there twice in the last 3 weeks. The pork roast is worth the trip alone.
Bump. The wife and I are getting a night away from the new baby on Friday night and we are going to stay at The Westin downtown. We don't want Vic & Anthony's, so where should we go?
Not the best restaurant in Houston but, I recently went to Giacomo's Cibo e Vino and it was maybe the best italian i've had in Houston.
Hearsay (location on Market Square) is good. Then you can walk to several good drink places nearby. Will probably be crowded.
Not sure if it's your thing, but Red Cat Jazz Café has Friday Night Live R&B starting at around 9 AM every Friday. Tickets are $15-20 presale. It's a nice mature, but still fun, urban scene if you can get into that type of thing.
Hearsay is more of a bar than a restaurant. Not exactly a dining experience. Cool place though. I suppose if you're coming from Katy it all looks like Valhalla though.
Have been to Hearsay multiple times. EXCELLENT!!!!! May already be booked up during 6:30--10:15pm time frame. Go to their website to see.
