http://www.playoffstatus.com/nba/westernstandings.html According to this website, the Rockets have a 19% chance of getting the 8th spot and only a 7% chance of getting the 7th spot. 29% chance of making it in the top 8 altogether.
you guys are just jinxing it how about the rockets clinch a playoff spot first before looking at other teams
Like others have said lets make it then worry about it. On another note. 3 threads about the same subject on the first page. Are people just not reading the threads or something?
I think we matchup extremely well against the Spurs. Mavs will destroy us, nobody can guard Dirk. Lakers will destroy us, nobody can guard Kobe now that Batman is gone. OKC will give us fits as Durant will be a nightmare matchup just like Dirk is.
At this point it is unlikely that the Rockets make playoffs. So these guys want to fantasize about it happening. You have to do it now while there's still hope.
Why would you want the Lakers? Match ups are just one part of the playoffs. Their experience and having Kobe and bigs guarantee a lose. Answer should be Spurs for obvious reason than Thunder. Still a young team so anything is possible. Lack of experience is one of the reasons we beat the Blazers.
Went with the Lakers. The Spurs have proven this season that they're simply better than us in just about every facet. The Lakers... have not. Also, the playoff intensity of a series against the Lakers, 2-time defending champions, is just great... that 7-game series two years ago, while having a disappointing finish, was awesome. Replicating that would be amazing (but with a better result, of course). I would've chosen the Thunder, but I don't think it's possible to draw them if we make it to the playoffs. In fact, I don't think the Lakers are possible either because we'll likely get the 8th seed and the Spurs aren't likely to lose the 1st seed.
I went with the spurs simply cuz we've played them fairly tightly this year. Courtney Lee choked the first game of the year away by missing 2 game-clinching FTs and then the infamous AB ankle sprain. But like some other posters have already said...gotta get get there first before we begin determining which matchups work better.
I agree - i think realistically we have a better chance of catching NOLA for a playoff spot even over Memphis. the hornots got a brutal schedule down the stretch: @ Utah @ Phoenix @ LA Lakers vs Portland vs Memphis vs Indiana vs Houston Fri 08 vs Phoenix @ Memphis vs Utah @ Dallas Thier only "easy" game is against the Pacers and they're fighting for a playoff seed. We GOTTA beat them at thier place!
If Duncan's ankle keeps him out of a month or more then the Rockets have a legit shot at this. Spurs have very little size as is but take out an all-time great PF or even limit him and that makes this a whole new ballgame. The key matchup of the series could turn out to be JHill vs Splitter.
Mavs= Has our number and always have. Luck is on their side when it comes to them playing the Rockets. Lakers= TOO big. We'll have plenty of trouble this time with no Yao or Artest. Thunders= Very Athletic and will pose problems for our guys. Durant will probably get more FT's than Martin. Spurs= Our best shot. Aging/Hurt Duncan, plays similar style consisting of mostly outside shooting. We match up well against Spurs Starters.
I had a similar thread back in December... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=197384 I was saying Lakers at the time but I may have to go with the Spurs now because we don't have the size to match up with any other teams.
What a stupid poll ... we're not making the playoffs. Might as well have a poll: Who should be our starting center after we get the following lineup: PF: Dirk SF: Lebron SG: Kobe PG: CP3
