People who have never been to LC and have some kind of expectations need to temper then immensely, especially if you've been to any of the nicer resorts in say, Vegas. LDL and GN would be akin to someone building a medium of the road casino in Conroe, you're not getting some fancy place that you can spend days or even an hour walking around exploring. If you're not there to gamble or try and catch some dumb 22 year old girls thinking they're high class in the pool area, you will have literally nothing to do. They don't have any other attractions, the shops are those independent ones with no name recognition and even worse items for sale. The food, from my minimal experience, was just terrible.
I prefer you to stay at the Golden Nugget. If she goes on a huge Bender, maybe we can sign Klay Thompson next year.
If you end up around the Dallas area I recommend trying the Oklahoma casinos if you like this sort of thing. Winstar and the Choctaw casino in Durant are not bad at all. They are much much larger than the lake Charles casinos. Similar atmosphere, though.
don't forget your toothbrush/toothpaste...seriously. They charge you $350 night but too cheap to supply you with toiletries. They will refer you to their store where .5 oz toothpaste will cost you 3 bucks.
Very little considering it was a Tillman establishment and it didn't even meet those expectations. Food was obviously terrible, but as I said, I expected that. I paid more for rooms there than I would at the Bellagio. I booked adjoining rooms and upon arrival, I was told check in would be at 8 pm (which is insane to me). At 8 pm, I was given 2 rooms on opposite ends of the floor. I literally saw 2 old women trip and fall on their faces in the casino and absolutely no employees came to their aid. Just an overall waste of time, Vegas would have been cheaper and way more fun.
You can probably find decent deals to go to Vegas for the weekend VS LC. I liked the GN casino (compared to the others there), but its too "high class" for what you'd want to do there (just gamble and drink). Like, LC isn't a great place, I'd figure people just want to gamble at low end tables. Its the nicest one out there though, and they know it.
Continuing on from my previous post in the thread. If you're expecting a 5 star level experience in LC you'll be disappointed. I wouldn't book a room at any of those places unless I had discounts with my players card. Like K Lolo said above, if your goal is to gamble/drink then Golden Nugget or LB is a good place to go for a day or possible a weekend. I usually do day trips and I only stay at one of the two casinos if its offered for free or at a huge discount. I also don't mind driving the 2.5 hours back and forth if I do a day trip.
