the futants was correct. Sprawl was a local ska Houston band active in the late 80's and early 90's. They featured a 3 piece brass section led by trombonist Reverand Dave Dove, and Matt Kelly was on vocals. I want to say they got signed by a big record deal, but things fell through and they eventually broke up. They had a few albums, but my favorite song was their cover of the Christmas Special song "Heat Miser\Cold Miser". Simply brilliant. I have great memories of going to a bunch of local shows in high school and early in college and seeing them, De Schmog, Billy Goat, etc. I wasn't able to find a youtube clip with the song, but here's a link to the MP3. http://www.houstonpunkarchives.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Heat-Miser.mp3 The members of Sprawl, De Schmog, and other local acts also put on a version of Jesus Christ Superstar in 1991 (I think) that was incredible. Matt Kelly played Judas (dude had some good vocal chops), and they had pop tarts and beer for dinner. Good times...
