I don't recall saying you as a person were a racist. If I did, I apologize. That's rude, but sometimes I do get heated and lose my manners. I doubt you're actually any more racist than I am. I do think breaking up HISD would leave low income and disabled students in the lurch, and I suspect the desire to break it up is to free others from the burden of paying for those more-expensive-to-educate students. I think that's wrong, but that has more to do with my sense of collective social responsibility than racism. I'm not sure what the HISD argument has to do with this Berkeley argument or what it says about me (it probably does say something about me, but of course I'll be the last to know what).
Just wanted to commend you for your posts. While we are not always on the same side of a debate you are always courteous and intelligent in your posts. I wish more people followed your approach.
Just to be clear, do you believe a city should have any authority to regulate anything within their borders? Simple yes or no will suffice, since anything beyond that is likely way too complex for you. What exactly is the hypocrisy? Has Berkley or their residents previously said cities shouldn't have any regulations?
I posted the Texas statute regarding keeping site lines to the state capitol unobstructed earlier. I thought that would make his head explode, but I guess not.
Yes. And if the hypocrisy among the Berkeleyans were not so ripe, I highly doubt this thread would have gone the distance it has. Just to be clear, the hypocrisy here is the NIMBY attitude of Berkeleyans.
