before signing smith and brewer, I would have been happy getting home court. I would not have expected us to get out of the first round (unless another team got injured mid-series), but they have by far surpassed my pre-season expectations. If we can win the next two at home, I think we will really have a solid shot to win this series against GS and the championship!

I use the same criterion every year regardless of who is on the team. Really. It may sound simple minded, not complex enough for the geek squad etc. It is this.

If the Houston Rockets are playing playoff basket past mid-May then it has been a very good year for me as a fan of this wonderful franchise.

    Go Rockets !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a successful season. But come on! Let's not starting to reflect on the season yet. Did you do that in the second round when Rockets were down 1:3?

ONE GAME AT A TIME! There is still a lot of chance.

Frankly, a "good" playoff run not specifically defined. That has already happened, but since we are at the door, why not go in?

With all the injuries this year and trades mid season, we've OVER ACHIEVED in my opinon. In additon, we now have an OFFICIAL MENTAL Edge on the Clippers for years to come as well as developing a mindest that we can make the finals. Definitely an over achievement this year.

Beyond my expectations. Always said, advance out of the first round, everything else is a bonus after that.

WCF is actually success to me. But with all the media bias against us, I want to win it all to shut those mother******* up!

And I want Beard to beat Curry and LeBron to back off season statement that he's the best player

Just having the #2 seed in a tough western conference is a win.

Getting to the Western Conference Finals is a bigger win.

However we should be 2-0 or at least 1-1. Being down 0-2 right now makes me depressed and not even want to think about the success our team had this year. I want more give me more.

Before the season, getting to the WC Finals represented success to me.

Several months ago, I started to feel like we had a chance to take this thing all the way.

Then the injuries hit DMo and Bev. And I knew realistically there was no way we could win it all without another significant big addition that wasn't about to happen.

So, I moved back to settling for being happy to get out of the first round.

Then we came back and beat the Clippers and I was taken aback by how well Smith played. And I thought if Smith could replicate his play against the Warriors that we had a puncher's chance to beat them.

So, basically I'm okay with how the season has turned out even if we get swept away by the Warriors. I really think we have outperformed based on our roster and our injuries. But in the back of my mind I'm thinking right now that IF Smith could get his game together and IF McHale could understand to double Steph and force the ball out of his hands THEN I think we've still got a puncher's chance to make a series out of this one. And I suppose I'll be slightly disappointed if we don't.

    ^^^

    What he said.

Proud of the team. Glad we are here. Don't tease us and git it done because it can be done.

If the players thought this way, they are doomed.

These guys will not get knocked out in the WCF and say, "hey this was a successful season."

Thank goodness. That's not how you win in sports. I think this team has done incredible things that exceeded my wildest imaginations. But no one will care or remember if they lose now. All of that will be forgotten. What they will remember is harden's losing the ball.

honestly wcf because last season i expected us to reach second round and there is no way im going to lower my expectation. Experience always count for something. I keep telling myself that the heartbreak will make the team stronger and they will refuse to lose this time. Ofcourse when howard, d mo and bev got injured my hope kind of falter and wished to atleast get past the first round.

    WCF.

It'd be sweet if we somehow manage to beat the Warriors though. I can't stand their cockiness.

But you are not really a player on the basketball court, you are just a fan on a message board so why are you comparing yourselves to them?

I think this is the kind of hubris that always results in clutchfans being so toxic, why are people like you always moving goal posts and never satisfied no matter what happens? Unfortunately only 1 team every year wins a championship, if we arent that 1 team is the season a failure and should the Rockets trade everyone and fire everybody?

This is a successful season no matter what happens, beating the Clips and reaching WCF is already a big accomplishment esp. with the injuries to Bev and DMo. Next year the Rox have even more to look forward to, we have that pick and growth from Harden, Capela, DMo, Tjones and Bev.

Maybe you have some short term memory and forget everything, but even next year I'll remmember all the awesome things that happened this year.

You make no sense here. Defining "success" as a ring has nothing to do with hubris or comparing myself to the players. It has nothing to do with this place being toxic.

You're confusing expectations with a definition.

I am proud of this team and love what they have done They have played with a lot of heart and energy and way overdelivered. I am just saying no one will talk about them, no one will care. We will for a season or two, but they will just be a footnote in history - a team that cameback from 3-1 and another chapter in the Clippers history of futility.

I guess I don't think expectations matter one way or the other. There's no guarantees about "next year". You don't know who will be here, and who will get injured.

It's amazing we are even in the WCF. But that can't be the definition of success. That's like saying for a poor performing student who is failing success is getting a C-. It's progress for sure. But success?
