amirite? This was Howard's 44th 20/20. The NBA leader in the modern era. Note: the stats at Basketball Reference in each game for rebounds only goes back to 1985. So, no Wilt, and Moses gets several games cut off. I just ran the historical stats for fun for other players you might want to know about. Howard 44 Hakeem 38 Shaq 38 Barkley 32 Kevin Garnett 25 Duncan 22 David Robinson 13 Anthony Davis 1 But get this, if you include playoff games as well, Barkley shoots up to 53! 21 20/20 playoff games #1 MONSTER! Howard is over 50 too, now.
I think that you're forgetting about Wilt Chamberlain. http://www.ocregister.com/articles/game-334722-games-wilt.html
oops. I thought the list was off. well, ok. bb-reference.com didn't have stats for him in my query, because the game rebounds only goes back to 1985. I guess Moses Malone and Kareem should be well up on that list, too should I edit my OP? while you are at it, see if anyone beats Barkley's 21 playoff games of 20/20
Wilt doesn't count lol he was a man amongst boys... The man averaged 20 boards for his career!!!! As remarkable as he was I have a hard time believing that those numbers could be matched in the league today... it just wouldn't happen with the level of competition in the game today
Wilt isn't reaching 20 boards for even a season, if he was a player from 1980 on. It's like Cy Young winning 500 games.
Hakeem blows away DRob and Duncan! Thought he would, but not quite the margin he did. Barkley might be a Top 5 physical anomaly in sports history. 6'4" and won a rebounding title After his rookie season, he averaged double figure rebounds EVERY season until he retired. He got at least one of his 20-20s with Rockets, in the playoffs All that during the Golden Era of Bigs Props to Dwight as well. And yes, Moses' number was shockingly low.
I edited my OP. The basketball reference data for games has points going back to 1964, but game data for rebounds the query cuts off at 1985. So, Moses was much more than that, for modern era players. Still, counting Wilt, Russell, Kareem and Moses...do any of them beat Barkley "the anomaly"s 21 playoff games of 20/20
Howard is a Hall of Famer , when bigs come into the league now hes the standard of what their suppose to be on both ends of the court
Too bad Barkley never understood that defense was just as important as offense. Barkley = Maga Monster on Offense and Shrinking Violet on Defense
