At some point, it'll be nice to discuss football and it would be nice to have a separate thread about the scandal lol. Stupid rumors that won't change anything is like slowly pulling the bandaid off. I'd like to get past this and not re-instating Briles helps us move away from the scandal. It's very unlikely that he's back but some Baylor fans and donors can't let it go. The nightmare that won't end for the fans.

Not sure which thread to post this in but something actually football related. Hearing that the whole Briles reinstatement thing was a ploy to try and retain the commits. Makes somewhat sense since it was reported that a few of them were told they were trying to keep Briles but who knows. Also, apparently BU reached out to Dino Babers and Todd Graham for the HC position and Grobe is candidate for AD.
With everything that has happened, that anyone associated with Baylor thought this was a good idea to reinstate Briles next year (even just tossing the idea around, but more importantly actually saying it to the media) just shows that they STILL DON'T GET IT!!!!
You would think after all the hiding, cover up, and turning a blind eye, that these IDIOTS would be transparent and release the Pepper Hamilton report. I would like to see a poll asking two questions. First to parents. Would you send your daughter to Baylor? Second to women. Would you go to Baylor? There is no way in hell I'd send my daughter there. Ever!!!
The subject was obviously discussed considering his status is old business. He is in limbo right now since he is suspended with the intention of being fired. I've never heard that done before. It's like they wanted the headline of "fired" without actually committing to anything. Wallstreet journal confirms my suspicion about the donors. It's a "minority" in terms of number but likely a majority in terms of amount donated. Their source is "according to people familiar with the matter." so take it with a grain of salt. -Jim Turner, the former chairman of Dr. Pepper Bottling Co.; -Drayton McLane, the former owner of the Houston Astros baseball team; -Bob Simpson, an oil-and-gas executive who is a co-owner of the Texas Rangers baseball team; -Trial lawyer John Eddie Williams, according to people familiar with the matter. Entire Article: http://www.wsj.com/articles/baylor-alumni-urge-school-to-rethink-firing-of-art-briles-1465932127 I guess we like keeping things going in the regular Baylor thread instead of the Baylor Scandal thread? No big. Whatever people like.
There's no written report. Only an oral one that wasn't documented. Also, I've seen studies say that 15-20 % of women have been raped at UT and A&M. A&M specifically has been commended for the way they handle the cases but a LOT still go unreported. 110 or so universities are under investigation for title 9 violations. Baylor is probably no more or less safe than any campus esp after what has gone down. Get a grip
That is what this whole debacle has been about since day one. Baylor wanted the credit for cleaning up the problems but not really at the expense of harming the football program. You could tell when they kept the staff.. wouldn't agree to release their commitments and wouldn't flat out fire Briles. Adding insult to injury was the invocation of "God" and "letting down" the community by sanctimonious Baylor blowhards like Ken Starr. If you are not going to walk the walk, don't talk the talk..... but Baylor wants to make it look like they did what is morally right AND not really harm the football program.
There's no denying that sexual assault is a problem across college campuses around the country and certainly at UT. Or that there is a problem with unreported sexual assault - the evidence of that is strong at UT, A&M, and nearly every college in the country. Baylor is/was unique in how they responded to reported sexual assault. By not properly responding to reported sexual assault, they did a major disservice to the victims who chose to report and probably dissuaded some victims who chose not to report. The fact that the lack of response seems to be a result of protecting the football team is what takes it to the next level. On the whole, Baylor is probably no less safe than UT for a female, but I would absolutely question sending a female family member to a place that seemingly doesn't want to acknowledge and/or fix the problem. There's definitely some hyperbole in this thread, but the stubbornness and insularity is alarming.
I thought the Baylor Scandal Specific thread I made was dying so I posted here but now it looks like they are both being updated. I asked the mod if he just wanted to delete the thread I made. I'm not sure how to make people move to a new thread or if they even should. Status quo is a little crazy.
There's no written report, because Baylor asked that there wasn't as they KNEW that it would eventually be leaked. "Get a grip"? I guess the difference between your rape University and the majority of the other universities is how they handle rapes.

Correct. Is your daughter going to go back in time and enroll at Baylor? You would think that they're attempting to correct what they've done wrong similarly to basically every university in the country.
From the Chronicle today: "Three more women sue Baylor for reply to rape allegations". "The women say they reported their attacks to various campus officials, including police, physicians, student advocacy officials, a CHAPLAIN, a professor, an assistant dean, and a dorm director, and got little or no assistance". What a freakin TRASH HOLE this place this!!!
