Seems like he'll never forgive the Rockets for not giving him his ring when he was traded here.

To be fair, we never made it to the Finals when they made it, and they never made the finals when we made it. Only fitting that two best teams of the 90s, never faced off for the title. It would have been epic.

It's called switching on a pick to prevent the game winner from being hit in your face...

If anyone should be pissed in this relationship, it's the Rockets and their fans. The Barkley expirement was a failure, as much because of his inability to mesh well with Hakeem and Clyde as anything else - oh, and failing to guard the 3 point line when it is literally the only thing you have to do...

Said it a million times, Rockets would've three-peated had it not been for the Barkley trade. Cassell and Horry for Barkley = one of the worst trades ever.

bro afte the rockets won back to back titles, they lost to the sonics in the playoffs for the following year. THEN THEY GOT BARKLEY THE YEAR AFTER THAT LOL. get your facts straight. we did have elie cassell and horry that year (1995-1996) and then traded for barkley in the (1996-1997)

the early 90s matchups showed Hakeem destroying the Bulls frontline and Jordan being held to his average or below by the Rockets defense.

We didn't have them face in the finals but watching them playing in the regular season was worth it.

Despite how we all generally feel about Scottie Pippen The Rocket, he wasn't that off base when he told ESPN years ago how he felt Barkley was a lazy ******. If Barkley didn't let himself get so far out of shape, maybe he and the Rockets could have had a championship together. I enjoyed Barkley's run with us because it almost got us back to the Finals.

The ones that wished that Barkley trade never happened because hindsight has shown how good Cassell was going to be and how clutch Horry was going to be are most likely the same ones that will lob "KMart/Lowry/Hill/Bud for Howard" trade proposals up right now.

Charles is just saying this because Jordan is one of his best friends. I've never liked how people said that the Rockets never would have won those titles if Jordan wouldn't have retired. For all they know, those two years could have preserved the career of Jordan and kept him from sustaining a career ending injury that would have prevented him from winning his last three titles.

Anything that Charles says when it comes to championships should be taken with a grain of salt. I mean the man has never won one. The fact is that Houston won a championship and that's that.

I remember Phil Jackson saying something along the lines of the Spurs championships being tainted because it was during a lockout shortened season. The Spurs won three more after that.

Others have pointed out, sarcastically, that all other past championship teams must have "tainted" titles because they never played the Jordan Bulls. The comparison should really be the other way around. The Bulls championships can be considered "tainted" because they never played the Russell Celtics, or any of the great teams of the past before his team started winning championships. And that line of reasoning shows why it's futile to argue "if only" so and so had been around "they" wouldn't have won against them in a Finals. Who knows? Could the Bulls have beaten the "Showtime" Lakers in their heyday? I seriously doubt it. They had no answer for Hakeem and they would have had no answer for Kareem. And Magic and the rest of the Co. weren't chopped liver, either.

There have been rule changes over the years, too. How would all of the current "star" guards have fared when hand-checking was allowed? So, maybe we can say whichever team wins this year, also wouldn't have beaten the Bulls. Or maybe, if it's the Heat, most would argue that the Jordan Bulls couldn't have beaten them? See. It's not hard to call anyone's championship into question because those scenarios can't be tested. People can argue 'til the cows come home and it won't prove a thing.

We may never know all the real reasons Barkley takes shots at the Rockets when he can. I didn't get to see much of his commentary last season, so I don't know how much he did it, or whether or not Kenny Smith ever challenged him on any negative comments. If he didn't, he should have.

But it wouldn't matter WHO tries to "taint" any team's championship because of past great teams and/or players, it can't be tested. No one can prove either way. If one wants to question the outcome of a championship, I'd say the first one San Antonio won could be questioned, because of the shortened season. But in the end, a championship is for the year it was played. Nothing less and nothing more.

damn that is still painful to watch even today..

would have been an awesome finals.. cant blame barkley tho. Clyde and Hakeem seemed to have went down hill really fast or just lost a lot of passion after winning a title.

This guy gets away with alot. I know when Barkley says that he still represents the NBA but I doubt that is the case. He isn't under their authority but that of TNT. The sad part is he wants to become a GM and if you put aside the fact that he's unqualified, no body would hire such an immature arrogant pos that is probably 10 times worst in intellect than the stuff that spews out of the worst GM in the league, Kahn of Minnesota. He's a joke and worthless because anybody of intelligence would know that his jokes are just him really being serious.
