Sonics were the team the Rockets had trouble with but in the end the Rockets gave too much in the trade.
I've hated on Barkley quite a bit but he has a right to be angry. I'm sure the rockets did promise him something and never delivered. The guy really did play his heart out here and took that huge paycut. Its pretty evident we have one of the cheapest and worst owners in the league, I wouldn't doubt he screwed Bark out of money for a second.
Here's a tip: Stop pissing away all your money in casinos. Then you won't have to complain, after a lifetime of NBA and TV earnings, about not having been paid more.
uhh, what he wants to do with HIS MONEY is his right, has NOTHING to do whatsoever with him rightfully feeling bitter because he felt he was owed $5 million.
Lots of misinformation here... Barkley gave his heart and soul here in Houston. He has clearly stated over the years he loved the fans, and loved the city. Time and time again, he always gives his praises to Hakeem and Rudy T as two of the most honorable pleople he has ever played for/with. In order to sigh Pippen, Barkley agreed to give up a HUGE portion of his salary to sign with Houston again to make one last run with Dream, himself and Pippen after Drexler retired. Part of the deal was to give him a contract making more when the CBA was renewed and the Rockets were able to give him the additional money. Well after the Pippen fiasco, the Rockets essentially said F-U to Barkley and hence his choice for retirement. (not just the injury) Barkley hates the Rockets management and Les. But make no mistake, he loved the city and he absolutely LOVED the fans.
I hate being reminded of that shot, but Stockton and Malone rode off into the sunset without rings. And Utah hasn't won anything since them, either.
Yes, people need to understand this difference. He has praised the Rockets players. What people WANT to remember is what he says that's negative. For example Yao Ming, ever since the Donkey incident, he's had nothing but praise for Yao. He has mentioned that he loves several Rockets players, back then he liked Scola, he respects Rick Adelman etc And he's also been nice to a certain #1 (hint, he's really clutch)
That's between him and Les. Every time we are on TNT he always says the Rockets are gonna lose, lose in 5/6, get swept, get blown out, talks about how much they suck/he hates watching them. It took him 3 years to finally shut up about that money on the air. Get over it, you didn't get it in writing. It's business. Chances are he would have blown that money too with his gambling addiction. I'm not gonna be okay with him talking mess about my team just because he likes a couple of our players. He says nice things about every coach. He never blames coaches for losing when they get fired (which is fine). Barkley as a Rocket was great. Barkley today, not so much. I think Clyde was one of the greatest players, but he sucks as an announcer.
Barkley was correct on his predictions on the rockets. People were over hyping the rockets during that era. The rockets proved him right.
He's always that much more unhappy when the Rockets are on TNT. Does he realize a lot of Rockets fans are tuning in to finally hear some praise about their team on national TV? We know the Thunder are gonna win, he does not have to rub it in. Talk about how much the Rockets roster has changed and they have a bright future. What their weaknesses are, and how they can improve. He has this need to only say bad things about the Rockets. He hates them so much 23 is old. He acts like Lin is a seasoned vet when this was his first full season starting. He most likely didn't even know the facts and just didn't want to admit the Rockets were the youngest team in the playoffs with something good going for them.
When they showed Daryl's tweet Chuck said "Don't worry about it man, you doin' a great job". I think he just likes messing with Houston fans.
Blame goes 80 percent Malone and 20 percent Barkley. After Malone's offensive hold, Barkley could have rotated faster and contested the shot better.
