How is their online banking? I'm with Chase and their online banking is really the only reason I'm still with them. It's top notch. Plus their mobile app that lets you deposit a check with your phone is great, but that service has been giving me a lot of problems lately...
Does anybody bank with Fidelity? They have checking accounts of a sort : http://personal.fidelity.com/accounts/aong/fcma_learn.shtml
I used to bank with wells, but about 6 months ago I shut down my accounts and life has been alot easier. If you can do it, go for it
oh nevermind, only if you use your debit card for purchases... i only use my rewards cc for purchases, doesn't affect me
Which banks do you guys recommend? I'm starting to consider the Internet bank option but I don't know how much the lack of a physical presence hurts as far as not being able to deposit cash, for example.
I left Chase for Amegy so it doesn't compare, they have a mobile app for Android and iOS and it's quite simple. Their online banking features, bill pay, account transfers, and a variety of simple features. Nothing compared to Chase but I stopped complaining just due to the ATM's. I can literally walk into a gas station and withdraw money and not worry about a thing. I do miss the Chase ATM'S that accepted deposits though I recommend the Smart Yield Checking Account at Amegy
Does this apply if you have a debit card and use it as a credit card? Or only if you use it as a debit card?
Fidelity is awesome. I do my banking and trading with them. Free transfers, free checking, and I can take out money from any ATM, and any fees are refunded to me. Plus they have a nice AMEX card that gets me 2% back on everything, no limits. Only downside is lack of locations and you cannot deposit cash. The location thing doesn't bother me as much, as they provide me prepaid envelopes to mail my checks in or I can always deposit in another checking account and transfer it over for free.
Ok nevermind. Just read another article that said it doesnt matter whether you use it ad a debit card or credit - you're still going to be charged the $5. Yep, I'm gonna switch.
I just got a new account with Wells Fargo - as I understand it, between having direct deposit, online banking, and a debit card, I shouldn't get charged any fees. But going to see what happens; there might be something I missed in the fine print. If they all do this, it will be like living in the 90's again, starting to go to ATMs and carry around cash for small purchases like the old days.
Just opened an acount with amegy and the atm at the branch i use accepts deposits just like chase which is making me consider just closing my accounts at chase and taking all the money to amegy.
