Anyone who reads game topics on this board probably knows I play videogames... really, really a lot of videogames. Well, one of my top 5 games of all time is coming to PC... very, very randomly (it was originally released in 2008). Up to this point, it's been a PS3-exclusive, so anyone who didn't own a PS3 was just SOL. http://www.giantbomb.com/articles/out-of-nowhere-valkyria-chronicles-is-coming-to-pc/1100-5059/ I'm totally thrilled that non-PS3 owners will be able to play it. If you never got a chance to check it out, I just can't recommend it enough. The combat is turn-based strategy, a lot like simplified X-Com (done better than the recent X-Com remake, IMO), the story and characters are great, the art is mesmerizing. Nothing not to love here. Absolutely one of the top 3 games of this past console generation in my book. I can only hope it sells well and builds hype for another non-handheld entry in the series. I will probably buy it again immediately upon release just to support it, even though I will never get rid of my original PS3 copy.
Yeah this game was one of my favorites for PS3, really spectacular. Probably the best tactical RPG I've ever played. One of the best tactical games period. For whatever reason it really just didn't click with western audiences so if was only able to get handheld sequels. I thought the story was a little heavy handed, but it was still a great game. I don't expect a full sequel, but they could at least port the handheld games to console.
Yup, Valkyria Chronicles is definitely awesome. Great to hear that it will be reaching a wider audience.
Wow, that didn't take long. They teased it two weeks ago, and now it's out on Tuesday: http://store.steampowered.com/app/294860/
Didn't play it much, but the little I played on PS3 was great. If they released it on PS4 I would probably pick it up.
Good news, apparently the quality of the port itself is a pretty great, with a number of improvements and only a few minor issues: http://www.pcgamer.com/valkyria-chronicles-pc-port-analysis-durantes-verdict/
Get the emulator or buy it from the PS3 store and transfer it to the Vita (not sure if you can do it from the PS4 store). Hopefully this answers your question.
Sweet, thanks for the heads-up. Hadn't even occurred to me to look for it so soon after the announcement. Just bought it. Should be interesting to eventually play this version in higher resolution than I remember on PS3. Now hopefully this sells well and we get a non-handheld VC4. Or at least a localization of VC3.
