Now that the Justice Department is Trump's personal police force to crush his enemies, do we even need to hold elections anymore?

If there is no real scandal soon, can we assume that you are the clueless one?

President Donald Trump on Thursday granted Attorney General William Barr new powers to review and potentially release classified information related to the origins of the Russia investigation, a move aimed at accelerating Barr’s inquiry into whether U.S. officials improperly surveilled Trump’s 2016 campaign.

A guy that lied to the American people about the Mueller report can now declassify as needed to tell a fake narrative to protect the president and punish his political rivals and those that work for the interest of the US. And you probably think that’s awesome.

Yet another abuse of power and the DOJ has become a powerful political arm of the POTUS.

I'm glad you took this step. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to fixing it. ;)

Agreed. If you hire criminals to run your campaign, law enforcement will take notice.

    Pretty simple.

I am surprised with the dismissive rhetoric of our leftists on here. We let the mueller stuff play out over 2 years and the leftists are flipping out over 2 weeks of investigation into the confirmed spying.

Because it’s a nothing burger. Don’t hire criminals and shady people with shady associations to run your campaign and law enforcement won’t take notice.

Why you mad at people doing their job?

This action by Trump/Barr eviscerates our intelligence gathering capability.

Trump has spilled to Kislyak and Lavrov sensitive info gathered by our and our allied intelligence services. This has terrifying potential to compromise our entire intelligence community to our greatest geopolitical enemy.

From lawyer and former FBI special agent Asha Rangappa:

Make no mistake: If Barr discloses the identities of CIA and CI sources providing information on Russia he is disabling our intelligence capacities *to Russia’s advantage*. It puts sources providing intelligence in danger and cripples the ICs ability to recruit new sources. Remember that Russia active measures against the United States are ONGOING. These sources, and the ability to recruit new ones, are essential to the IC being able to counter threat. It’s essentially collusion in plain sight to enable Russia’s efforts by thwarting our own. I’ll add here that the ripple effects are going to go beyond Russia. Whatever you feel about the Russia investigation, this will effect our ability to get people to work with us against terrorists, Iran, China, and other adversaries and countries working against our interest.

Former double agent Naveed Jamali illustrating the impact:

Case officers recruit, task and collect intel from our spies. In turn, they ask their spies to go into and do extremely dangerous things. The reason we do this is because we trust that our co’s will protect our identity.People like Sipher, Asha and many others had to look sources in the eyes and tell them “go forward, we have your back.” It’s a relationship built on trust. Moves like this undermine that relationship bc it says a co can’t protect her spies from her own government. Most co’s in the FBI and CIA never actually do the spying or talking to bad guys, instead, they rely on people like me and you don’t get people like me with a President who threatens my safety. And without me you have NO intel. Full stop.

Trump is still talking on an unsecured iPhone. He is horrible at keeping state secrets. Members of his administration aren't qualified for their security clearances. Add that to the information you've shared above and I'm surprised that all the people who were so outraged at the Hillary Clinton private server issue aren't buzzing around like angry hornets.

...Unless they never really cared about the lack of security from the beginning and only convinced themselves it was a big issue because of the person and party that was responsible for it. Now that it is their person who is a far greater threat to state secrets, it is no longer a big issue.

We are all for full disclosure so even our leftists are on board with this declassification order.

    Right??

    We love transparency
