At his best, Cousins put up a 108 ORtg. Sure, this is skewed as its over a whole season and he does better against some and worse against others... but it's not like Capela would be in that worst group. He can't handle Cousins, but he can better than many. I don't think Cousins makes the Warriors better, EXCEPT for in spot situations. Otherwise, he's a downgrade defensively and to the extent he's ok offensively, he's taking away shot shots from more efficient players. Consider Looney had a 121 Ortg last year and is at an insane 135 this year. Sure, he can't create his own shot, and he's just putting in gimmee's. But that's ok. The Warriors don't actual need another create your own shot guy, especially at an ORtg 9 points below the team's ORtg for the season. Frankly, if the Rockets meet the Warriors in the post-season, the more Cousins is in the better. It's an "easier" guard for Capela than whatever small ball lineup they use, and a MUCH easier defender for Harden to go against. Harden actually "struggled" last year when having to go against Looney, or even Jordan Bell. Meanwhile, the more ISO ball you can make them offensively, the better. They explode when Curry explodes. Let KD and Cousins go off, keep Curry and Klay and Dray in low scoring ranges.
I enjoy watching the Houston Rockets play basketball, not trying to play pretend GM. You don't belong here troll, you should be the one to go away or should we expect to hear from you in a couple weeks again? Take a little longer this time, this place is better without you.
So we're 3-0 against the Worriers this year, including 2 on their home court. Let's see how things went in tonight's victory: Boogie, whom Capela cannot possibly defend: 13 pts on 4-12 shooting, 14 rbs, 6 tovs. Capela himself, hopelessly outmatched and still shaking off the rust in his 2nd game back from a lengthy absence: 8 pts on 4-8 shooting, 15 rbs, 1 tov. You were right, one of these two guys was almost unplayable in the 4th quarter tonight. Yet another clear-cut example of why we'll NEVER beat this team with Clint Capela as our starting center!
Per NBA stats Clint guarded Boogie on 6 shots last night on 33% shooting. But Holic has already decided he can't defend him in this system. I'm awaiting the "Boogie isn't back fully yet" cause this guy wants to make excuses for Warriors players rather than praising our own guys.
not so fast hes gonna come here and defend yourself like there's no tomorrow and argue until he proves how he was right all along...
Cousins was unplayable last night and he knew it. They kept panning to him looking sad and I really don't mind when Jordan Bell is in there. I get that in the playoffs that is Draymond but 3-0 against them this year is good. Doesn't mean a TON but I think the mental edge of 4 out of 7 games in Cali is not as scary to Houston as it is to OKC.
Will he be especially condescending and arrogant too? I hope so, it just wouldn't feel right if he wasn't.
Nene was under-the-radar awesome last night going against Cousins. I wish we could rely on him in the playoffs. The Faried and Capela combo looks promising, particularly in the rebounding department which we sorely need to improve. It’s worth pointing out that the Rockets have had more success than any other team the last couple years against the Warriors.
They didn't switch as much last night, I thought our bigs did a great job hedging on the pick n roll, Nene and Faried have such big bodies they were effective in blocking the pass to the roller/popper as they trapped the ball handler. Nene was unplayable when we were switching everything in the playoffs series, but if we cover PnR like that against them he can play.
The Warriors death lineup was on-court for a grand total of one minute and 24 seconds. They were +5 during that time. IF we meet them in the playoffs.......they will play the death lineup AT LEAST an average of 20 minutes UNLESS they have blown us out before having to play that many minutes. Your post and your thoughts on this matter are stupid. To extrapolate from this win that we, with this current roster, have a chance to beat the Warriors in a 7-game playoff series....is foolishness. UTTER FOOLISHNESS!
And Harden played a grand total of 0 minutes, and will AT LEAST average 35 minutes. Not to mention no Shump, and surviving their attack of Gerald Green’s defense. Just give up. We have their number, and are designed to defend them. Cousins is useless to them against us. And Iggy is no longer all that. Curry and Klay can’t get open enough in every game of a 7 game series, and Durant is poor at closing against us. Kerr spends way too much defensive focus on stopping Capela’s verticality, and we are learning more and more how to beat that. But, but, Draymond got injured...right?
