Cool, I'll root for the guy, got a buddy in Florida who is a Stros/Braves fan (divided household). I'll ask for updates. I just don't see him as anything other than a 5th OF, DH, PH, emergency 1B. Mostly DH.
I dont recall seeing him being given much opportunity to play 1st base here, if at all, but he was one in college and I think hed do just fine on an NL team. Hopefully Luhnow finds a gem in the PTBNL, per usual.
I don't think he'd hit well enough to be a 1B on a championship team. His probable ceiling is 2nd division OF/1B.
I don't understand it, but he was All-SEC his senior year. The Stros tried and tried to get him to play an acceptable 1B (or even LF/RF), but he could never do it. "Some guys are just made to be OFers" was the sorta quote I remember from Luhnow. He's been a butcher with the glove. Maybe somehow that changes?
I dont think they really tried all that hard. I remember him tweeting for a chance at some 1b time, but they never gave it to him.
