I bet those players won't utter a word to Osuna in the clubhouse. They'll suddenly go silent since this is a big leaguer in their face and not a minor leaguer not even in the same zip code.
What he was charged with is not necessarily the same as what happened. So everything you post as fact ("he didn't hit her") is speculative. Yet you dismiss equal speculation based on facts that HeyNow posts (facts like willfully accepting a 75 game suspension, loss of $2+ million, etc).
The fact that the team felt it necessary to fly out the GM and the owner to LA, have multiple team meetings, etc suggests that they feel like this is a more complex situation than you want to believe.
Sounds like the same speculation people are making about Osuna and what he did. Basically everything other than facts.
FACT: He was arrested & charged with assault FACT: MLB suspended hims 75 games, the second-longest domestic violence-related punishment in league history FACT: neither he, nor his union, appealed the suspension FACT: he lost *millions* of dollars by not appealing FACT: the Blue Jays traded him FACT: the Astros have repeatedly mentioned "second chance" in their messaging Those are not speculation.
Fact, we have plenty of actions taken by various independent entities as a result of the incident - some with access to the victim - and none are indicative of a situation in which Osuna didn't do something egregiously wrong.
I’m not dismissing anything. I’m focusing on these three things 1.We know he was charged with simple assault in Canada 2. We know the definition of simple assault in Canada 3. We know what a Attorney said based on her experience dealing with simple assault cases in Canada. What is the Attorney from the article getting wrong based on her experience with Canadian Law?
All 3 announcers on BSPN last night said the astros lost integrity by this acquisition. Aroldis "shoots up this house during a domestic dispute" Chapman comes in and blows the game. Not a word of his transgressions.
Any of you going to stop watching the Astros or change your Astros consumption in any way? Will you continue to support this business?
I'm guessing it just doesn't fit a certain narrative. I thought that article gave the best insight to what Osuna is actually guilty of. Much better than the narrative that his real name is Ike Turner.
It’s the best path to follow at the moment. Without any information out there we need to follow the rule of Canadian law... 1.We know he was charged with simple assault in Canada 2. We know the definition of simple assault in Canada 3. We know what a Attorney said based on her experience dealing with simple assault cases in Canada. Who would you listen to? An attorney who has handled many of these cases or emotional fans on the internet? That’s what we have right now
I think the length of the suspension has a lot to do with MLB protecting their brand as well as the facts that they had access to regarding the incident. My guess is that if the police are called at all related to a DV claim, and the victim is quickly determined to not be a complete liar, then the suspension is going to be heavy...and rightfully so, IMO. You're using the suspension length as a clear sign of guilt. I look at it as the new norm with the MLB, especially on the heels of the Danrys Vasquez video.
FACT: Lawyer says he's pleading not guilty. FACT: Court date is in Sept. FACT: Presumption of Innocence is a legal right in Canada and the US. FACT: It seems you don't care about any of that **** do you?!
