Why? Reddick will sit against LHP. They probably also want to keep around a CF besides Springer.

    Right now:

    Gattis
    McCann
    White/Reed
    Altuve
    Correa
    Gurriel
    Marwin
    Springer
    Reddick
    Aoki
    Bregman
    Marisnick

would seem to make up our 12 position players. Even if we acquired a bat like Encarnacion, I think they would take the spot of White or Reed.

Great deal. Historically he's about a 2.5-3 WAR player. With the $7.5 mil market rate that puts him at 18.75 - 22.5 mil and we're paying him 13.

    Reddick is Rasmus 2.0

We still need 1 more bat and pitching. I like the Astros being active.

this is a splash. I can't believe we weren't forced to overpay given the interest in Reddick because he lacked a comp pick like most of the solid-to-good FAs. i'm pumped

You know, that is a really interesting thought I had not even considered. This whole time I have been automatically assuming signing Reddick means Springer moves to CF but if it in fact means the Astros are trading Springer for Sale (pipe dream) or someone like that, I'd definitely be fine with the move.

I would definitely be much more keen on the Stros trading Springer for Sale than Bregman. But would the White Sox take it? Springer and Martes?

...and Kyle Tucker is a left handed bat who has been compare to Ted Williams. Might be just a season away from the Majors but he is a phenom.

I like it! Pricey but necessary get. Good vet all-around player. Good defensively.

Yes...giving that Springer has reach his potential and as good as he is, he has a lot of swing and miss. Average has always been around .260 to .270

I would keep Springer for at least one more season before KT comes up to the Majors.

He's a talented player but I dont think the powers that be see him as the core of this org going forward. plus of the 3 players expected to make bank from the Astros, theyd rather lock up Altuve and Keuchel before him. makes sense.

Agreed. Core seems to be Altuve, Correa, and Bregman on offense and if he can ever be healthy, McCullers and a pre-2016 Keuchel in the rotation.

Astros let all their free agents go. So far they have signed a #5 in rotation pitcher, a 40-year-old has been outfielder, and a catcher that is no better than Castro. Why is everyone so happy about their off season deals.

All the players they signed are upgrades over the players they let go.

    Reddick is 29.

I wouldn't assume Aoki is tendered a contract. He can be let go of the Astros need the financial flexibility.
