    Thank God!

I'm at work watching the scoreboard and freaking out there. I feel better now that Lidge saved the day yet again!

I went to the game last night in front of a whopping 16,000.

Kip Wells brings his A-game, as usual.

    Atlanta just screwed up bigtime!!!

    Bottom 8th, Atlanta batting, 0-0.

Man on 3rd, 1 out...Tim Hudson at the plate. Instead of pinch hitting, they let Hudson bat...he grounded out to catcher, runner didnt score. Next batter, Furcal, got out...inning over.

That was their chance to win the game. Dammit.

Forget the Phillies, we'll just win the next 8 in a row.

Well, Hudson just went into the 9th and gave up 4 runs.

    Horrible managing.

Why you dont pinch hit for your pitcher in the bottom of the 8th during a crucial at bat and then bring in your closer for the 9th is beyond me.

I was thinking the same thing. The only thing I can think of is that they don't want to face the Astros in the playoffs.

Not to mention Tim Hudson then gave up 4 runs in the top of the 9th....I just can't understand why Bobby Cox has won only 1 world series.

He may have only given up 2 runs.

If Atlanta is not careful, they'll be watching the playoffs.

Yup - Atlanta still has 6 games against Florida left... the NL East race could still get interesting!

Solid win for the Stros today....when you can win the high scoring games like yesterday and then come back to win the close pitchers-duel style game like today, you're on to something.

Backe had quite possibly his best start ever on the road. He's got good numbers at MMP, but been knocked around pretty consistently away (ERA of around 6 and opposing average of .283). If he can keep this up for the next few weeks, it'll be extra tough for anyone to catch us.

We only have 9 games left, so if we go 7-2, that means the Phillies have to go 9-0 just to tie us.

    I like our chances.

I hadn't done that math. That does look pretty good for us.
