Sad to think that the best pitcher in Astros history would bring only a #5 type starting pitcher prospect and a Lyle Overbay clone according to scouts. I guess Happ has decent upside.
Singleton would have been nice, but beggars can't be choosers.

We weren't beggars.. Roy was the one asking out. I am going to be disappointed if that's the deal -- it was Singleton (or) Cosart or bust for me. Damnit Ed, prove me wrong!

Calm down guys, its only speculation at this point. I have to think Singleton has been included if we are moving Kepp and giving them 8 million.

Tim Kurkjan speculating on the #s/$$$ amount Astros could pay - says it could be a third or even a quarter of it.

Tim Kurkjian was just on Sportscenter and he said the Astros were going to pick up a signifigant portion of Oswalts contract in order to get the players they want. Assuming this is correct, I can't imagine those are the players coming back.

    Side note -

SI_JonHeyman #astros told #mets since they expect oswalt to go, they want to keep myers. #mets prefer myers to lilly; neither likely

Any deal with the Phillies that doesn't land at least Happ and Singleton is a bad one for the Astros, IMO.

no link yet...as they were cutting to kurkjian, the host said, "we're getting word that oswalt has approved the deal this morning," and then they talked about who else would get traded.

depends on how much salary we're getting rid of and what flexibility that gives us.

Happ is a given in this deal, i'm thinking.

getting Singleton would be more than I thought we would get from the Phils. there are other players on that phillies list i could live with, too.

I don't either if it turns out to be the case. I initially thought they were just posturing. He seems to be in prototypical "sell high" mode.

I hope Richard Justice isn't right...

"Ed Wade appears to have done a decent job of getting prospects and a 27-year-old pitcher, J.A. Happ, for Roy Oswalt. These don't appear to be major league-ready prospects—1b Jonathan Singleton, RHP Vance Worley..."

Maybe if we decline his option, offer arbitration and he declines.. would he be a type A free agent?

Maybe I misunderstood the guy...I sure thought he said, Oswalt accepted...but I'm not finding it anywhere, and that has me second-guessing. Sorry in advance if that's the case.

He seems to be saying that we got Singleton in that post or tweet...

Singleton is only 18-years-old and in A-ball so he couldn't have been implying that he's major league ready.
