I wonder if PooPooRa knew yesterday at the Bagwell number retirement.

Expect another lackey at GM... Drayton will never relinquish control.

I am, however, rooting for Cecil Cooper as manager.

Those incompetent fools don't deserve the dignity of finishing the season.

If you have football questions you should be listending to Mark and Andre in the morning....seeing that they talk about absolutely nothing else!

If you guys hated Purpura, I can't wait to hear what you have to say once Randy Smith becomes the GM.

While I am happy that Timmy P is a goner, I have mixed feelings on Garner.

But I guess if you have one of the worst records in baseball...

wow. in my memory, i don't recall this happening often...where both GM and coach get fired at the same time. that's a gigantic shakeup.

In my opinion, he should have done it sooner, but at this point it doesn't matter one bit. We are out of it and just looking towards next season. I think Cecil would be a good candidate, but was he sitting on the bench agreeing with every move Phil made? In my eyes, Tim failed the team, but Phil's 'hunches' and blind loyalty to particular players didn't help us out at all either. So if Cecil is just going to be Phil II, then he shouldn't get the job. If he is his own man and is going to be a change, then give him a shot.

I think the team does need a manager that will not sugarcoat everything. A manager that will call out players and get in their asses to get them to perform. Seems to me that players were too comfortable here. Lane was terrible, but got starts everyday anyway. How can that happen? An attitude change in the locker room could make all the difference with many of the players in that locker room.

The timing of this really intrigues me. Why not wait until the end of the season? Was Drayton waiting until after the Bagwell deal all along as not to overshadow his day?

WOW. Now comes the important part. Getting the right GM is crucial. Anyone know if Morey is available?

this may have already been covered but i thought two things were notable during bagwell's jersey retirement ceremony yesterday (besides bagwell's obvious lack of style and maturity - get you suite, you bum!): the fans loudly booing pupura (which, frankly, i thought was classless, but still, i'm sure drayton heard them loud and clear) and garner's absence - how could his manager not be involved? i found that VERY odd; not inexplicable. just odd.

Yet more proof that anytime the boss gives you a vote of confidence you had better pack your bags and start talking to a Realtor.

Had to happen ... I was never happy with Garner as a manager (even during the WS season). Garner is good for clubhouse morale, but I think he is just a terrible game manager in my opinion. While Tim was bagged on way more than he deserved early on, he has had enough time to try to get something done, and nothing good has happened for him.
