lidge owns them more right now, though on longevity i'm gonna still give the overall edge to edmonds.
Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!! Game over!!!! 40 Save in the season for Lidge. 100 Rbi for Ensberg. Things looking good. Go Astros!
With Carpenter pitching as bad as he has been over the last month the Cards look vulerable in the playoffs. We just might have a chance. If we get there.
Pitches-strikes: Backe 66-39, Gallo 1-1, Strickland 9-6, Springer 35-24, Qualls 11-7, Lidge 11-7 Batters faced: Backe 21, Gallo 1, Strickland 2, Springer 8, Qualls 3, Lidge 3
Wow!! 2 seasons in a row the astros get written away in the Regular season, and then surprise everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! This is a real confidence builder for the Astros. Knocking off Carpenter and Isringhausen and sweeping the Cards on the road in must win games is clutch. Very impressive! Way to go boys!
Yea... the Cards definitely look weaker (esp. w/o Rolen, and w/ a "weaker" bullpen this year minus Calero, and an aging Izzy/King/Tavarez).... but winning that first round series could give them all the momentum to get back to being an elite club. If I were the Cards, I'd be more worried about beating the Padres in the first round (who you can't help but overlook), rather than worrying about what these losses to us means to a possible NLCS rematch.
HOW YA LIKE ME NOW!!! That's gotta put a little fear in the Cards for us to come to Busch stadium and push 'em around! Awesome win!
That was the perfect 2 game series for the Astros- Oswalt shut them down, we shelled Carpenter and Isringhausen, they had no chance against Lidge, and we won two in their park. File that info away for now. lock up the wild card then concentrate on the Braves.
Wow, what a nice scenario. 4 games against the cubbies to clinch the wild card berth here at home!!! If the Astros take care of business like they should, especially having the best home record in the National League, then a Split of the series is all that is needed; even with Philly doing a pounding on their opponent like that 16 run outburst they unleashed on the Mets! It's still not in the bag, but the future does look brighter than the 15 games under .500 the team resurected itself from. Props to Purpura for having faith in his young guys like Tavares, Ensberg, Lane, and Everett. Plus the props for not panicing after Berkman was down for the beginning of the season; he always said that Berkman was just around the corner. And props for Clement, Pettite, and Oswalt for pitching their A$$es of even after the team wasn't getting them any victories.
time for some home cookin'. the astros have been through alot since they were last in Houston... if they win two at MMP they tie the Yankees and the Braves for best home record...
