There is a difference between hustling and dumb base running. Marisnick, rounding and holding, would not have been a lack of hustle. Correa holding at third with a 7 run lead while the first baseman had the ball in his hand, would not have been a lack of hustle.
Hustling and dumb base running are not mutually exclusive. Telling a guy to think on the bases can be a killer for hustle as hustle usually involves running on instinct. Very hard to change a guys instincts once in majors.
One of the earliest things one is taught is to think about situations before a play. When you're down by 5 runs, you simply need to have the mental fortitude to know not to make a risky decision.
I would be nice if Carlos Correa became worth talking about again. He's been Mr. Inconsequential Single since he came back (oh...with one double). The announcer said he was showing signs of his first half self. That's news to me.
I think he's hit some screamers just foul and at least 1 right at a defender. He has shown signs in the last 5 games I think. Not huge signs, but I think he seems closer than the singles make it appear
I don't think it's a coincidence that vets like Reddick and McCann are only guys hitting well right now (Beltran is just old). This is at least second year Altuve has disappeared in Sept. Hope he and Springer show up for playoffs. I think CC will eventually get it together.
