Morey didn't get a big because he's wet-dreaming of Blake Griffin & Gordon Hayward & summer free agency? Is that what this thread turned into?
I agree none of those guys played big minutes, but they did play in key situations against tall teams like OKC when needed and kept them from owning the boards and scoring at will which is what plagues the Rockets. We need a big for those types of critical situations and just simply do not have one. It makes the other smaller players have to expend too much energy competing for rebounds against much bigger guys.
Yeah no I hear that but just saying there aren't options out there really. And really any injury to anyone in our rotation and we're pretty doomed anyway. If Anderson is injured we're pretty doomed at PF. Same with Ariza at SF. Only thing that gives us a little depth is Lou with our guards but still an injury to Gordon or Bev would still doom us for the playoffs.
Some people were crying about Morey not going after Barnes. Dude has been horrendous thus far for the Warriors.
Obviously the rest of the league has been venturing towards it because that's the only way you're going to match up with the best teams. Teams still built like the clippers have no chance whatsoever any longer. No bigs are good enough on a nightly basis to punish small ball
That's why I mentioned in situational spots a big like bogut would be good to have but in the end it doesn't come down to traditional lineups that win a ship anymore. That ship sailed when perimeter play is as deep as it's ever been and even now the bigs venture out there taking away any true dominance in the paint.
Popovich disagrees with you... Smallball is a big deal in today's NBA. Everyone is trying to find small combinations that put as much shooting and spacing on the floor, as if it's some sort of cosplay contest for who can dress up like the Warriors the most. However, with the influx of great big men in the league with Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, and more certainly on the way, some have wondered if the smallball fad might have gotten a little too much hype, while others have said this is simply the next "revolution" in basketball. Gregg Popovich is here to squash your revolutionary dreams. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/gregg-popovich-is-here-to-throw-ice-water-on-the-small-ball-craze/
In reality pop doesn't bc he has transitioned to small ball himself and until the Spurs win a title in this small ball era then you can say he defeated it. none of his bigs are good enough to beat it. LA, Gasol being so much more perimeter oriented now is actually doing the rest of the team's a favor.
