As predicted, it is now February, and it appears Ariza can shoot again. Freakish, but for some reason his whole career has followed the same path. He'll be at his hottest in Feb, and continue shooting 3s well the rest of the season. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/arizatr01/splits/
Not sure if you have ever played basketball in your life, but shooting isn't something that can improve for just one year, like a contract year. If you have good form, you will always have good form. You can't sustain 40% 3 point shooting for an entire season because you consciously are doing something to make those shots go in. It's all in the form, and his form has produced results, so I believe in him. Slumps can occur obviously, but he seems to be coming out of it. Confidence is probably the most important attribute for a shooter, and the more he builds confidence, the better he'll be.
A Good few days off and time to really practice with the new additions help out in tonight's victory. Also, being able to sit out during games and get good rest before coming back in helps out Ariza ever since Brewer has been added to the team this has been apparent.
Ariza is going to be a streaky three point shooter. No. Any player with a three point shot is going to be streaky, even Curry and Korver. We gotta take the good with the bad and the good is that Trevor plays defense every single night. That's the important part, guys.
Ariza definitely has played better since all the additions. He's streaky, so he's going to have good games like he did tonight, and he's going to have games where he's like 3-14. Back in December though, Ariza wasn't even streaky, he was just consistently bad.
So you think confidence affects your shot but not the additional focus and urgency to shoot a higher percentage due to a contract year? You're not wrong but I think there are certain factors to a contract year that might assist a player in keeping his game at his highest level
