Ariza 1-8 Brewer 1-7 Beverly 1-5 Ariza and Brewer were atrocious this year. Beverly and Ariza have lost a step defensively. All 3 need to be traded or cut in my opinion. This team is going nowhere with these guys playing major minutes. All 3 regressed this year.
So obvious they're all terrible. Beverly just doesn't have 'it' anymore. Definitely not a starter on any playoff team.
i defend them all season long but what they did these playoffs is completely unacceptable. thankfully they all have cap friendly contracts so should be easy to trade. if no one wants brewer then les should just take a loss and waive him. the only thing he can do better than kj is handle the ball, and he's not that great at that either. kj can learn that over time.
They're on cap friendly deals that decrease every year. If Dwight doesn't use his player option, the Rockets will be over $40M under the cap with Harden, Brewer, Ariza, Bev, KJ, Capela, Dekker, Harrell, Bease, and Goudelock. Of those 3 you mentioned, Brewer was the probably the biggest mistake. Bev sucks on offense, but he's cheap and plays a role. Brewer and Ariza have too many holes to play together. With Ariza and Brew only having 2 years left, they shouldn't be impossible to move, but they kind of suck now. Hopefully they become 9th and 10th men on the team due to being outplayed. Bev is a decent backup.
Bev and Ariza are okay coming off the bench... especially when you have Beasley who can create for himself.
Worthless thing 1 Worthless thing 2 Worthless thing 3 "Three and D" where we offer neither the three nor the D.
Ariza started the offseason before the postseason. Those 2 lazy passes with timeouts at the end of Game 3 that almost cost the Rockets a win told me his mind wasn't in it. Brewer, got money, so he basically coasted the whole year. And Beverly, didn't get get a new contract beginning of the year.
Beverley and Ariza should still be on this team next year but in different roles. I would love to see us upgrade at PG and SF, that would put us in a position to have some defense off of the bench. Ariza has never had the killer instinct but he is still a great defender as is Beverley. That was poor coaching that left him guarding a 6'7" Livingston who just shot over him.
To lump Ariza and Beverly into the Cory Brewer category isn't fair, neither of those players was remotely as bad as Brewer this season. This team and many players looked terrible due to some terrible coaching IMO. With the right coach I'll go to war with Ariza and Beverly all day.
