An easy schedule just means that you shouldn't jump off that bridge just yet. With the receiving corps and TE targets that the Texans have, they can beat up on weak secondaries which make things easier. Also, Mallett can go full on Flacco and just throw passes up for grabs with the hopes that Nuk or Strong will come down with them, it was enough to get the Ravens to the SB.
Bobby, like that you are an optimist, but a variation in OLine, the sudden unavailability of our best offensive weapon, and inconsistent QB play are all recipes for a disastrous opening campaign. This league is geared for offenses...
Potential disaster...the good thing is RB's are plenty in this league so if he really is going to be out for a long time there's still plenty of time for them to find a decent replacement before the season starts if they don't feel confidence in our guys.
RB is the most plug and play position out there. We should be okay. Foster is a tier 1 back though and will be missed.
Yeah it doesn't look good, but given the weak schedule, I think we have to wait a while before jumping off the bridge. Teams are going to have a rough time scoring against the Texans, and we don't yet know the quality of the O line or QB spot. For all we know, the O line is solid as is the QB play. We also don't know the quality of the running game yet. Obviously there is reason for concern, but question marks aren't reason for panic before the season even starts. Let's remember that Arian Foster was a question mark at one point too.
Yeah, I was having a hard time understanding that one, too. Foster isn't just a RB...which is what he said...he's top of the line. He was easily this team's most valuable offensive force last year. He's not easily replaceable. Hopefully other components of the offense will improve enough to help bridge the gap.
Not really. Someone can be missed even while the team is okay without them. The team would be better with Foster, but they won't necessarily die without him.
I think I can square the circle. RB is the lowest learning curve in the league. But that doesn't mean that Foster isn't one of the most talented at the position. So, if we lose Foster, even though the ceiling for him personally is pretty high, the floor for his replacement is going to be quite high as well.

What did Dallas do to replace their tier 1 back? Donny and bobby did a better job than I explaining. More so than Blue, I'm high on Chris Polk picking up the slack.
My god are any of you guys listening to Charlie Pallillo right now? He keeps taking shots at BoB just because his feeling a got hurt. Charlie is probably one of the most knowledgable radio guys in Houston, but he's so damn doom and gloom about everything.
Or even just the platoon picking up the slack in the aggregate, sort of like the Pats always do. No one RB does all that much, but between 3 or 4 of them they add a lot to the team.
Agree almost always, even for a team like Dallas that featured that league's "best" back last year. But in this case I genuinely feel like it's different. Foster does so much on offense for this team and there's no backup or free agent capable of taking on that kind of load. He's dynamic and keeps the chains moving. This will be tough. Similar to Minnesota last year with AP out.
We're simply going to have to throw it more often. There's no way around it. At least we'll certainly find out what we have with Hoyer/Mallet this way. No defense and running game carrying some sad sack QB to a Pro Bowl, etc.
Definitely a huge blow, and casts a cloud over this coming season before the sun even began to shine.
