well that is possible and clearly the case in some polls where the options are more amusing. But none of these are quite amusing to lie about or have a reason to. But of course that could be the case in ANY poll taken.

When in Texas, I'm a Liberal.
When in Portland, I'm a Conservative.
When in DC, I'm a Moderate.

I'd consider myself moderately Liberal, but the spectrum has shifted so far to the right over the last 20 years that nobody to the right of me would consider I'm anything but rabidly Left Wing. Of course, these days they would think that about Barry Goldwater too.

Well out in California a moderate might be considered a FAR right winger. It is quite the opposite in Cali, things have shifted so far to the left.

Mostly a libertarian. More hawkish/less isolationist on foreign policy. Pro-life.

bravo, we do need more libertarian views. I think the Libertarians have excellent ideas when it comes to fiscal responsibility. Where I think they get a bad press is when it comes to foreign policy and some are very extreme in their views that there should be no govt at all.

I'm not a liberal, a conservative or a moderate. A lot of people tend to fix on single issues for labels.

If I had to pick a label I'd go with anarchist or socialist libertarian, but to avoid Sam Fisher from accusing me of living in my mother's basement, I live in the real world and am a fan of good governance. So if good governance as a guide, if I had to pick a world leader as the most competent in my lifetime, I'd have to go with Queen Elizabeth II. If you want to call me a monarchist, that's ok too. :)

Since I say I don't believe in government, I feel like a hypocrite if I vote. But if I did?

In the US, none of the political parties appeal much to me. Libertarians on the surface, but I want none of their Ayn Rand-esque hatred for poor people or the love affair with corporations. I don't like the way the Libertarian party hijacked the word "libertarian." The far left is too authoritarian, the far right is...well, it's the far right.

In the major parties, the only candidates in the primaries I agreed with at all were Paul and Kucinich. I was no fan of George Bush, but I don't think he was the Devil. I thought the adoration heaped on Obama during his campaign was irritating, but at the end the president was one I respect more than most in recent memory. I recognize they all have a difficult job to do, operate in a very constrained range of policy decisions, and have to answer to a very large public that all want theirs.

I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories, birther, truther, or otherwise. I think people that do can't be taken seriously. I think the Tea Party is a joke, and I think most posters in the D&D are more competent to be president than Sarah Palin.

Having said all that, in Israel, I supported Hadash, mostly for their color-blind view of the conflict, and for a lot of common sense municipal reforms. And they are pretty much the closest thing Israel has to a communist party.

So I hope I justified choosing "none of the above."

I don't really like labels, but I guess I consider myself to be a liberal.

When I take those silly internet questionnaires I usually lean a tiny bit closer to libertarian than liberal, but in reality I tend to be too pragmatic to actually consider myself a libertarian. In theory, I would love it if there was no government in people's business, but in reality, I'm cool with using government as a tool to make society better.

Also, there are very few conservative ideals that I agree with. Even the idea of "fiscal conservative" has too many potential meanings that don't fit my preference. I'm in favor of a progressive tax system, I don't mind higher taxes for a good reason, I'd prefer to balance the budget and pay for all programs, but I'm ok with deficit spending when needed.

Glad to read some very sound opinions and views from everyone. We may all have different views on politics and the role of our Government but I am glad people are discussing their views without getting blasted and resorting to name calling. That is very common on here unfortunately due to a few posters.

when it comes to economics I'm a socialist.

When it comes to social issues, I'm extremely liberal.

That being said, I'm not in favor of anyone cheating the system and believe everyone should work if they can.

When it comes to foreign policy, I'm against military force a vast majority of the time.

    I voted for liberal.

in concept it all sounds very good but unfortunately it doesnt work that way and it has been proven throughout history. You are going to get those people who cheat the system like you said. This discourages progression and wealth creation. Why should I work so hard if someone else can just be lazy and leach off of me?
China finally realized this and changed their policies. Look at how fast they have excelled since. Of course I am talking in very broad terms here.

In terms of military force it looks like there is something we can agree on. Definitely against military force if it's possible to avoid it.

I'm a radical moderate. I have aggressively nuanced positions on almost everything.

    Except for the Rockets!

SunsRocketsfan, if I may humbly offer some unsolicited advice... I've noticed in your posts recently you've responded to criticisms of conservatives with the comment that liberals do the same things (which they might, but such commentary does little for the discussion other than help it devolve into an us versus them debate). I've also noticed that you seemed surprised by how evenly distributed the political beliefs here are, and how level-headed and reasoned some of the responses are.

My advice is to always assume the poster is level-headed and reasoned, rather than assume the opposite. Even if you feel others are adding to the partisan sniping, refrain from doing so yourself. Those types of things tend to snowball, and if it really bothers you then getting in the middle of it only makes it worse. Find posts that make interesting points and respond to them as if they are well-meaning and honest. You'll get a lot more out of the D&D that way, and you'll be contributing to making it a better place as well.

Note that I only direct this to you because you seem to earnestly want to have real dialogue, but also seem to have quickly fallen into the sticky web of partisanship. And this is just one person's opinion. I honestly won't mind if you don't agree. Cheers.

interesting based on the latest results I would say clutchfans is very representative of America as a whole right now. I read an article not too long ago done by pew research on the number of democrats, republicans and independents.
The independents are now the largest registered group followed by the democrats and than the republicans. Seems to be the case here too although liberals and conservatives are almost dead even on here.
