We weren't looking for a fourth option. We were looking for a first option. Morris didn't work out, but he had the potential to be a first or second option. Kahwi does not. Giannis on the other hand is averaging the same number as Leonard at 19 years old off the bench with a maturing body. He grew 2 inches last season. He should be 7 feet before it is all said and done with pg handles and arms down to his knees.

The spurs thank Morris for showing Morey he had #1 option potential.

We got identical production from our second round pick that season and his free agent replacement who was also instrumental in winning a championship at the same age. Kawhi is a good player, but he won't be worth the max contract he is going to get this off season.

Morey has had 2 poor draft picks and all others have been pretty good. Your GMs track record with 1st round picks on the other hand is awful

Actually, what I said was, that it was doutful that Daryl Morey would have drafted Giannis Antetokounmpo given his track record.

He would have been more likely to draft Shane Larkin, who, at the time, was an analytics darling, and the type of player Daryl Morey likes.

Giannis was, at the time, everything Daryl Morey hates. A raw athlete. Not much foreseeable skill.

    I just don't see it.

Well he at least traveled to Greece in order to scout him.

That seems to be more credible than the thoughts of a random internet poster. Larkin? Lol

When you draft a player THAT low in the first round, just like OKC did with Serge Ibaka, you might take a flyer on athletic ability.

Hell, the rockets traded Nick Batum for Dorsey and Green. My feeling is that the main thing Morey liked about Green that he didn't like in Batum was SHOOTING. Being athletic came secondary.

There is no way that Morey drafts Giannis. Not in a million years. Especially that high.

Morey flew to Athens just to scout Giannis (no one else). Compelling indication that he was seriously looking at Giannis. You bring nothing to the debate except speculation.

I don't think 'what' has ever had an argument that was supported with actual evidence.

I bring draft history to the table and knowing what morey likes. Hell, Morey's most famous trade, was to trade Rudy Gay for Shane Battier. If Morey prized athletic ability so much, how does he make THAT deal?

    So does wikipedia.

Except you didn't know he want to greece to scout the freak.

One trade means he doesn't care about athleticism? Sample size anyone?

Need I remind you that Rudy Gay sucks?

Giannis is a rare athlete. i think Morey, as a basic, intelligent human being, has the ability to make decisions that aren't as binary as you make it seem.

    Morey didn't make this trade...

Why did Morey trade for Terrence Williams if not for athleticism
