Plenty of teams would love having Lin off the bench. Only Patty Mills, Jamal Crawford and Reggie Jackson off the top of my head who are more effective off the bench. Lin is a good offensive player, who had to play through injuries and an inconsistent role. It is what it is. He **** the bed in game 4. But he arguably saved us in game 3 and 5 and put us in a position to win game 1. What more can you ask from a bench player?
Are you really going to say Felton is better than Lin? Lin didn't shoot well, but 1 was a half court heave and another was a last second three, so it wasn't quite as bad as it seemed. Still he didn't shoot well.
Prematurely clicked on "Reply" Was looking at this list. http://hoopshype.com/free_agency_2014.htm Avery Bradley would be nice. What do you think of Nick Young? I like Grevis Vasquez. Thabo S might be a good fit. I could live with Kirk Hinrich on the team. There seems to be quite a few players I wouldnt mind. Anyways....
Honestly your post can apply to a couple of players in the rotation as well. Why just focus on Lin? Dude's a goner anyways.
Hee hee... not really. But I could live with him being made the scapegoat Dont know why, maybe it's his "attitude". But I think Thabo or Avery would be good. I know they are SGs but I reckon JHarden wants to play PG so let him and we get a SG instead.
Did you watch the game? On probably 4 of his missed 3's he got the ball with only a few seconds left on the clock and was forced to jack up a shot. 2 of those shots were at the end of quarters, 1 shot was near half-court and the other was off the inbound pass with 0.2 seconds left in the 3rd. No sensible bball fan would blame a player for missing those shots.
We should ignore every fact because: 1) Season over 2) Gives us a rest 3) who fking cares? 4) enough threads
Because as I said, it is going to much harder or even impossible to find a replacement for Harden. Much easier to fix and replace the complementary pieces like Lin. Lin becomes an even bigger concern because of the salary cap room his contract occupies. Morey will have to answer these kind of questions regarding Parsons as well when he sits down to discuss his new contract.
Funnily enough, after the game there was a thread titled "If Lin was on Lillard there would be 10 thread saying Lin sucks". That thread was shut down within 15 minutes. Strange how none of the multiple threads hating on Lin get shut down though.
A shooting guard type player would be better along side Harden on the offensive side, but then you're forced to guard the opposing PG with either Harden or whoever SG we have with him. Beverley I really don't think is a good enough as a starting PG, but would be excellent coming off the bench. Dont know who Morey'd end up getting, but I'm almost certain Lin's gone this off season.
Thabo S and Avery B are considered defensive SGs. So I saw them playing a PBev kind of role, but an upgrade on that. Nothing on PBev. There are many many worse players than him. Just that I think these 2 I named above are better.
The only thing that people should be talking about is the coaching, that is why there won't be any second round of the playoffs for the Rockets.
Oh my god. Lin is the only player who gets credit for taking shots with the clock going down because naturally it only happens to him. So blame Harden, blame Beverley, blame the shot clock. Anyone else?
Yeah, I kind of think that too. Given the amount of talent on the team, I think we underachieved. And in a way, the amount of talent kind of hid the deficiency in coaching. But then again, if that was so, surely Morey/Les would be know this. Anyways, I think the "easiest" upgrade at the moment is at the coaching position.
That's myopic. Have to look at the entire team if the goal is to eventually win a ring. Coaching was a disaster and will be changed in time. However, we cant overlook other glaring shortcomings on this team. This team has some some major holes(coaching, lack of defense, PG, PF). The first two can be addressed by a coaching change, the last three can be addressed by player upgrades.
