Are there bigger waste of money signings this offseason than Fail Jackson, Dreck Fisher and Melo?

The title makes you look really unbiased.

And it was the plan to let most of the contracts run out and then rebuild next year, your rant about making no big signings/trade thus far makes no sense,

He just appeared to be washed up because he didnt care anymore, once he cared about winning he actually played up to his capabilities.

Jake was the washed up guy with no knees.

Minor point, but I love that movie.;)

Phil needs a top 2 player to succeed. Give him James or Durant and it's a different story.

    Anthony? Meh.

The Knicks just let Chandler walk. And Dallas is misusing him badly.

Melo is the same Melo as ever, he passes a little bit more than before.

If they're this bad then they need to develop their young guys. This team should be starting Aldrich, Melo, Shumpert, Hardaway jr and Larkin. Get Travis Wear, Cleanthony Early, and Jason Smith more minutes. If you're going to be 4-18, might as well give the young guys some experience. Trade Melo to the highest bidder because in two years (by the time they get help) he won't be able to defend 3's or 4's or get any separation on his shot. Dump everyone else for any young players with short contracts. Literally, any young players.

I don't even know if they own their own draft pick, but it's worth doing this anyway.

Bill Simmons said on his latest BS report with Zach Lowe that Phil traded Tyson Chandler for 50 cents on the dollar because Chandler and Melo don't get along and Phil was desperate to retain Melo.

The knicks are on pace for a franchise worst year; a worst record than the Isiah Thomas run Knicks. I'll give Phil an incomplete since his plan is to rebuild next year after the contracts run out, but who is going to be looking to join this train wreck if they continue at their current pace? There isn't a great free agent class next year anyway. Aldridge, Love, and Gasol are your biggest names and all 3 likely resign with their current teams (I'm assuming there is no way Lebron is leaving). After that you have Rondo, a ball dominant PG who can't shoot or Goran Dragic, who might be the best option realistically available. Omer Asik also will be on the market, but the Pelicans didn't give up a first round pick to rent him for a year. And the question remains on why anyone wants to go play with the Knicks over better teams with equal cap space?

Dolan has a history of stupidly overpaiding front office and borderline stars that never materialize
See Isaiah Thomas, Allan Houston, Amare Stoutamire. List goes on
    History repeats itself

I don't think anyone gets along with Melo. Apparently he threatened to beat up Tim Hardaway Jr. after their loss to the Nets lol.

Can we vote Lance if he gets traded?:

PJ will buy out Fisher's contract and then make a deal with Knicks ownership to have his own contract bought out. Then, Fisher will sign on as a player for a contender with poor depth at PG and we will be forced to watch him throughout another year's playoffs.

Melo will land in LA in the off-season and chuck his way into retirement in Hollywood.

Actually, it's more probable that PJ could pull a Riley, throwing his coach under the bus and take over the coaching job. But that won't happen until he's able get a top player like Shaq in his prime.

Some have argued that Phil cannot be judged until next summer because this is when they will finally have cap space. Perhaps we can't judge him on a definitive basis yet, but we do have relevant data right now which show Phil's work as questionable and the Knicks' prospects in summer 2015 dim.

    1. Jackson made one pretty substantial trade: T. Chandler for Calderon, Dalembert and change. The trade has helped Dallas more than it has the Knicks by a big margin.

Chandler is shooting 70% from the floor while anchoring the defense in Dallas. Meanwhile, the Knicks got worse without Chandler, Calderon has been injured most of the season, not playing all that well when he does play and there is rumor now that Medlo doesn't get along with him. Also, Calderon's contract is longer than Chandler's so even from the 2015 cap space perspective this isn't good.

    2. The current performance is very relevant to their future plan. Their big plan is to use 2015 cap space and. Phil's halo of success to attract free agents. When free agency is a huge part of your plan, your team being, or even looking like, clueless bickering losers is big negative sign on free agent recruiting efforts.

Right now, his big offseason (re-)signing is coming off as a not-fun guy to play with, his rookie $25M coach can't get players to buy into the system, the players on the team are unhappy and underperforming. Phil has minimal contact with the players and the effect of his methods are not reaching them. His halo is losing power with each loss.

Phil's reputation may still have some value and guys may still like NYC, but the top players like Aldridge and Marc Gasol will have many suitors in an environment where many teams have cap flexibility every season (due to shorter contracts). These guys will most likely have many more attractive options than NY.
