Very glad I put some money on it. It's a virtual lock at this point barring a Curry/Draymond injury, and as we all know, that won't happen because nothing bad happens to the Warriors.
Curry is injured though and who knows how these calf strains can turn out. At some point, he could be out for months or the entire season.
Wait until they get Harrison Barnes back. Fits perfectly and could score 25 on any given night not to mention being a plus defender.
Bulls were 25-3 by new year, Warriors are 29-2 so still looks highly possible IF Curry doesn't miss too much time.
Jordan was never injured. The consistency does matter. If Curry doesn't play tonight and maybe another game or comes back too soon and isn't himself, confidence in themselves can be shaken at any time. Hot shooting doesn't last forever.
Bigger question is can Spurs win 70 as well?? Two 70 game winners in the same season. You may never see it happen ever again.
The Spurs have better point differential than the Warriors. Golden State has a chance of becoming the firs team that break the winning record without being the top team.
Being the "top team" here seems subjective. Do you mean the Warriors could win 72+ but then not win the championship? Or do you mean win 72+ but not be top team in point differential? That second item seems much less important.
The Spurs number is abnormally, ridiculously high +14. I don't think there is much of a chance of the Spurs holding on to that (which would smash all NBA records) for 45+ more games, nor is there much point of them doing so since they're basically locked into the 2 seed barring somethign dramatic.
I mean the Spurs could end up with a better record than the Warriors even if GS won 72+. This is the scenario: GS finishes 37-7 with a final record 73-9 SA finishes 40-2 with a final record 74-8 Not likely. But not inconceivable. The Warriors are not blowing out people like they did earlier. So they are bound to lose a few close games down the road. The Spurs look invincible now, just like the earlier Warriors. It might not be sustainable too. We'll see.
