Isn't every team as good as its record indicates? At that particular point in time? That's why it's a "record".

Now, if you ask me "Do you expect us to keep up this win/loss ratio for the duration of the season?" No. Definitely not. And we will lose games to both lesser and greater teams. But right now, at this point in time, yeah. They are that good. Look at the differential, it doesn't lie, their play hasn't been a fluke. The defense is greatly improved as is the shooting, especially from long range. And it shows.

They beat every team they played badly, save Philly. Arguably they should have lost tonight and be 7-2, of course, not having Howard & Bev vs. GSW means they should be 9-0. So 8-1 is exactly the right record.

    /thread.

Rondo played in the Boston game

but they are better than their record by virtue of only playing with 60% of their starting lineup for the last 5 games or so? And the only game they lost with only 40% of their lineup.

Going in we knew the Rockets were a thin team that was going to rely on their starters - the injuries (if not completely serious) could be a blessing in disguise as some of the younger guys - Papanikolaou, Black, Canaan and DMo are playing larger roles and becoming more confident. Once the starters are back our bench becomes stronger than what it was before since guys who probably wouldnt have played too many minutes now have shown they deserve more time and in turn gives the starters more rest.

I think the most important thing is the point differential. We currently have the highest one in the NBA at 10 ppg. Even with all the injuries.

What does being 8-1 indicate? It just says you got off to a very good start. Yes, the Rockets got off to a very good start and that is certainly true.

In football, at this point in the season it's the equivalent of being 1-0 and leading at halftime of your 2nd game. What does that indicate?

    Exactly.

    The improvement of D.
    Everything Ariza has brought.
Isiah Canaan becoming the player we thought we were drafting.
Howard and Harden both having MVP finalist years.

This could be a 60+ win team

    Nice post.

I wasn't going to make this thread if we lost, but I will remember not to make threads after close games either. Learn something new every day.

No team is .889 win percentage good... and certainly not these Rockets. That would be in the conversation for "best NBA team of all time".

But if you mean rankings wise, are we in the top 3 teams in the NBA? ...maybe. I'd say it's too early to tell, but it is at least possible.

An Emeka Okafor off the bench (assuming good health) is a 58+ win team though

What is ironic is that somebody would question our record yet they use username of somebody who has not proven anything in the nba.

Compared to current "playoff" teams, we have played very few games within our division. That means we'll have more tough division games awaiting us.

This team has 60 win potential. I can see if they end up in mid 50's though. Its early , but i would be upset if we dont get a top 3 seed.
