Read from some news saying about 1M people are evacuating from Houston area and the Rockets may have to change their home court. How's it really going on there? Is the training camp canceled?

the hurricane is set to strike land friday niteish...since the toyota center is very new..im sure its built very well..but idono if they built it to withstand a hurricane...if the toyota center gets beat up like the superdome in New Orleans..then they HAVE to find another home court..the season is too close away for them to be repairing major damages..but judging from the most recent hurricane images it may stray off.. and it mite not hit houston as hard as most people expected..lets pray that this is the case.

The Reliant Center is in the Southwest side of town. It should be fine. The hard hit side of Houston will be the Southeast where the ship channel is.

you're right but the rockets play at toyota center. :) both should be fine anyways, though isn't toyota center far underground? hopefully there isn't too much flooding.

I remember when they were building it, even though it is a sunken bowl, they were building post Allison so they thought of flood, etc. I'm sure any wind-damage, unless major major major, could be fixed relatively easily.

TC is in the South East side of Houston and since Ritas going far east of that it should be fine. Not that I would mind seeing how a game in Reliant would look.

Rita moving east of the track so likely the significant portion will miss Houston - unless it jogs to the west at some point.

in the event that games will take place in relient, the bright side would be that everyone stays in thier seat the whole game.

It would be interesting to see another game at the old Compaq Center.

Reliant doesn't have as much of the extra crap that TC does - Lexus Lounge, restaurants, etc...

Unless Joel Osteen can play defense, I doubt we see games in the Compaq Center (or as my girlfriend calls it, "God Stadium."

The funniest part was I was thinking about the Summit when I posted that. I should stop posting so late. The TC isn't too too far from the Summit though.
