My best friend has a Model 3, and the amount of tech you get in a car at that price is insane. I used to have an Audi S6, which retailed for about $80k, and while it was a performance beast, and the luxury was amazing, the Model 3 gives you all of that for about $35,000 less. Autopilot is crazy to use the first time, but awesome overall. I really hope Elon gets his head out of his ass and Tesla gets their manufacturing issues sorted out, because their success should drive down the costs of comparable luxury electric vehicles in the near future.
Things seem to be looking up on their production ramp for the Model 3. Supposedly my AWD version will be ready "Sep to Nov" this year. I'll believe that when it's actually delivered. I also might switch the order from AWD to RWD and purchase Enhanced Autopilot.
You'll have your car by YE (fingers crossed) and be in line for the full tax credit. 200,000th delivery occured a few days ago. AWD version runs faster than mine.. you are going to love it.
Elon is winning me over by building a kid submarine and calling a white Brit expat that "just happens" to live in Thailand a pedo. Would definitely get a salvaged S and put a 5.2 voodoo in it.
How does the tax credit work after the 200k car delivered? Doesnt it go by quarter after that to receive the full credit and then it starts to diminish after each quarter thereafter?
Yeah a very bad look for Musk. BUT it's not the like CEO's and other top dogs that work for other auto makers aren't right leaning elitists themselves, I have never thought to myself .. "Oh I wonder if the CEO of BMW is a complete dbag." Point is you buy a Tesla for the car and tech. Not what Musk says on Twitter (again a very bad look for him).
All 2018 deliveries will qualify for the full credit. Jan 2019 - June 2019 deliveries = $3750 July 2019 - Dec 2019 = $1875
I was called to configure my Model 3 a couple of days ago. The prices have gone up, up, up. I got my $1000 deposit back and invested it instead.
They are only offering the models with options at the moment in New York. I was still planning on getting that anyway, but I thought it'd be around the $49,000 range. When I finished configuring my vehicle, it was around $65,000. F that. I'll wait 5-10 years when the technology is better and more widely available.
Base model standard battery -$35,000 Longer range battery - $9000 Premium package - $5000 Auto pilot - $5000 19” Sport Wheels - $1000 Any color besides black - $1000 Add $4000 for dual motor AWD The performance model 3 can get all the way up to $74,000. Advertised at 3.5 seconds 0-60 but runs faster than that Self-driving is $3000. No point in purchasing that until it’s approved and rolled out
You can get extended battery and autopilot for less than $50k, which is nice. My buddy's configuration is great - However, losing the $7500 tax credit over the next 18 months is going to really suck some life out of the Model 3's value for those purchasing going forward.
