I think this is something about Parsons that fans are misled by. Parsons isn't the player other teams dread when they're locking Harden/Howard one-on-one. He's the guy they fear when they double team Harden/Howard. Parsons play off our stars very well on offense because he takes advantage of the lack of attention he gets. In this sense he'll work well in Dallas, where Dirk and Monte Ellis will likely garner more attention. But when teams are locking down Harden, they have absolutely no fear of Parsons. He can be contained one-on-one. He can't just take his guy off the dribble the way Harden or even Lin can do.

I agree he's a better ball handler than Ariza. He can run a fast break and can take someone off the dribble on a hard closeout. Ariza not so much. But Parsons is not someone you can turn to when the stars aren't producing. That's why he's ultimately just a role player, even if he's a very good one.

I think both Jones and Dmo could turn into good bench players for a contender.

There has never been a more perfect and timely replacement for a departed Rocket than Ariza replacing Parsons. I will not miss Parson's flat 3-pt shot, lack of defense and the excessive "Rico Suave" demeanor.

    ^ awesome.

If he started behind the 3pt line, jumped out of bounds (along the baseline), and made a shot, would that count as a three or a two?

Ariza was a vastly better off ball player than Parsons last year, both on cuts and transition (of course he creates a lot of his transition through steals), he doesn't have the handles, but he can 2 step the perimeter, I dreaded Parsons dribbling the ball as much as I used to dread Ariza, often the same outcome, so the one whose learned not to do it is probably better.

not really, thats what got Ariza his first 35m contract, dude can be very effective filling a role. What he's not is a first option LOL we found that out the hard way...

I thought I'd post this regarding Trevor

he's not just a corner 3 shooter, but he is weaker in one wing spot, which oddly enough seems to correlate better with the usage of a certain left handed playmaker

It would be a 3 (of course).

    For example:

    ^My favorite shot ever.

Ariza has fit our team perfectly. Seriously. I know that it is only preseason and we can't read too much into it. But with Ariza, we will quickly forget about Parsons.

Ariza is supposedly good now because he's surrounded by better teammates.

I truly believe he's the perfect player for us at the 3. Unselfish. Can hit open shots. And cares about defensive effort. He's a leader as we saw with that young group in Washington. And still has championship experience.

I want to see more consistancy out of him but think he will put on a very solid season this year.

Look he is a solid role player but he can't dribble, can't create, and his passing is late a good portion of the time.

He is a good defender, and can hit the 3ball, but on the break, if he is contested, he can't change direction for crap.

Parsons is better, but Ariza may be a better FIT for this current team.

I did NOT like him at all before, but for this team, yeah, he is ok.

    Now about Jason Terry...still can't find a way to like him...YET !

All of these people totally shocked by Ariza being better: Did you just not watch or pay attention to him at all these past couple of years? Or bother to look up anything the Wizards fans or beat writers have said about him? Or take a cursory look at his stats?

He's playing much, much better than he was the last time he was on this team. It was weird seeing all of the people freaking out over him being re signed. He was a really good player last year. And now he's in probably the easiest role of his career. Of course he's going to excel.

So we don't get to count the other 9 years he has played in his evaluation? 15-20 games into the season we'll know if he will perform on par with his standout season in Washington.
