I just think he is a better defender than Parson is. Which is what we need more of than offensive firepower.
Yeah - last season there was a struck match between him and Klay Thompson in terms of 3 point shooting. Sure, Thompson has more ways of 'getting his shot' and making hoops, but Ariza is a far better passer and defender. Total bargain at $8m per.
And to cap it all off, Ariza is a good three point shooter, he doesn't jack up that ugly flat crap like Parsons.
Who was that dude that looked like Ellen degenerus we had on the team last year? Because this lizard looking guy is a stud!
He did, but I think some folks feared that was him stepping it up in a contract year. Plus there was always the concern about what we'd be losing with Ariza replacing Parsons. So far it looks like we have nothing to worry about.
He has matured a lot since we last had him, much more calm and lets the game come to him and never forces anything.
The real kicker is Hayward's line 38 minutes 8 points Yes the guy had 7 assists but he is their "money" guy, and he wasn't money. That's what seals the deal for Ariza over Parsons.
I was one of folks who was a little hesitant to be on the Ariza bandwagon when we signed him mainly due to his last stint in Houston which was nothing short of disastrous. He also had a history of playing well in contract years and slumping afterwards. Lastly it's rare for players to actually get better much later in their careers no less completely embrace their strengths and weaknesses of their game. That takes extreme introspection that is a rare development. But I am completely on board. His 3 and D role adds organization and structure to this squad. Instead of having too many identical skill set players in the lineup we have diversified.
Well played. I had no hesitation, and just said a big "yes" when I heard he signed. It's that ole karma comin round like lightening. Oh yeah, this ones for you Cuban.
I was on board with signing him to 8 mil but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't terrified of him regressing. So far he looks good.
I was hoping there was some magical way to get him if we got Bosh, lol. I watched him in Washington, he was giving maybe less energy last year than previous years, but he'd learned how and when to focus it, he was just a bundle of wasted energy here the first time.
